Meet Karl Eckert, the Big Boss (our Managing Director). Leading the team, Karl is passionate about all things ‘safety’ and is a hands-on leader immersing himself in the day to day running of the business. Before Professional Safety Services (UK), Karl has had other careers in the print industry, hospitality sector and motor industry. Just for fun, we’ve asked Karl a few questions to get to know him even more.

How long have you been with Professional Safety Services? 15 years

What do you like most about your job? Everything! Learning from highly skilled industry peers daily. Thriving in a supportive, collaborative environment. Solving complex problems through joint brainstorming. Facing new technical challenges every week. Owning projects from conception to final ex*****on.

What’s your favourite part of the day (except for home time!)? When every team member prioritizes the collective milestone of customer service excellence as well as their individual tasks.

Review of the month – April 2026

Well, we started off the month with what everyone thought was an April Fools joke, but it was quite the opposite! On 1st April we welcomed our new Sales Manager Joanna Gatie to the team, as our current Sales Manager Louise Iwanuschak, has decided to move on to pastures new. Joanna and Louise have been busy all month with training and handover, to ensure a smooth transition.

We were all delighted to have the long Easter weekend off, but this of course has a knock-on effect with customer service works and our delivery schedule, so our technicians have been working tirelessly to play catch up.

Our hire department has been extremely busy, with a lot of new long-term hire contracts going out, the team have worked really well to ensure we can meet our customers requirements.

All in all, a great month. Here’s to a well-earned rest over the Mayday bank holiday weekend.

We are delighted to welcome Joanna Gatie to the team as our new Sales Manager. Jo will be taking over the role, as Louise Iwanuschak is due to leave us soon. Jo and Louise will be going through a vigorous training program over the next few weeks to allow for a smooth handover and to ensure that our high levels of customer service are maintained. Work in high-hazard or ATEX work environments, such as gas works, confined spaces and fuel tanks? If the work area is oxygen deficient or the air quality is compromised, then a FABA (Fresh Air Breathing Apparatus) Kit can provide a safe and constant supply of breathable air for workers.

We are a distributor and authorised service centre for Centurion Safety Products Ltd. The Centurion Nevis FABA kit is available to purchase and also to hire, for those one-off jobs. With powered and unpowered versions available, this kit is supplied with a full-face mask (available in 3 sizes) and 9m hose, all stored in a heavy-duty storage case.

Review of the month – March 2026

Finally, a bit of sunshine, but still a lot of wind and rain too! Our staff have been making the most of the better weather by getting outside for some of our clean-up jobs and also to take holiday, for some well-deserved rest.

March has been the month of the FABA kit, as it feels like we’ve had eleventy billion of them go through our workshop! We certainly will not complain, it is great to be busy 😊

All in all, a great month. Here’s to a well-earned rest over the Easter weekend!
