Think one exhibition was enough for Wednesday? Think again!

As well as the GM Innovation Expo, we also exhibited at the very first RSE Live event in Dewsbury, showcasing one of our custom-engineered Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants and connecting with representatives from across the UK water industry.

Water recycling and reuse were key talking points throughout the event, as well as the challenges facing the water industry and the importance of managing resources more sustainably.

RO technology can play a critical role in maximising water reuse, helping businesses recover water that might otherwise go to waste.

It was also a valuable opportunity to share technical knowledge, strengthen existing relationships and explore opportunities to collaborate with RSE on upcoming water recycling and reuse projects.

We'd like to thank the RSE team for bringing the industry together for an engaging day of discussion and knowledge sharing.

What did you get up to yesterday?

We spent the day at the GM Innovation Expo at Manchester Central, hosted by GM Business Growth Hub

Cerys and Iyaz got to meet people from so many interesting businesses from across Greater Manchester, catch up with some familiar faces and hear about the exciting work happening across the region.

We also got to share more about what we do here at SaltSep and gave visitors the chance to see some of our equipment in person. Some people had never even heard of reverse osmosis before, so it was nice to introduce them to it, explain how it works and how our equipment helps keep essential industries around the world running.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand. It was lovely to meet you all and we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!

Earlier this month, we welcomed 14 engineering students from Hollingworth Academy, Rochdale to SaltSep for National Manufacturing Day 2026.

Giving young people the chance to experience real workplaces early on can make a real difference. It helps them understand what different careers involve, discover opportunities they might never have considered and make more informed decisions about their future.

The students got to hear from members of our team, including Emily Williams, our Head of People, Ian Wilkinson, Design Team Leader, James Schofield, Technical Services Manager and Wayne Evans, Production Manager. They each shared their experiences and gave the students a different perspective on the opportunities within the industry.

They also heard from Latisha Kierans, one of our current SaltSep Academy apprentices, who joined us just over a year ago. Not so long ago, Latisha was in their position, figuring out what she wanted to do. She originally thought she'd go into welding but after getting the chance to experience different departments at SaltSep, she discovered that design engineering was more her thing.

From seeing how our RO plants are designed and manufactured to hearing what it's like to travel to different sites for work, the visit gave students a better understanding of the different career paths available in engineering and manufacturing and the opportunities they could explore after leaving school.

Thank you to Hollingworth Academy and everyone involved. We hope the students enjoyed their morning and left feeling inspired about the possibilities a future in engineering could bring! ⚙️

We're really pleased to share that Salt Separation Services has been shortlisted for Employer of the Year at the 2026 Rochdale Business Awards! 🎉

Over the past year, we've welcomed new people to the team, continued to grow our apprenticeship programme (SaltSep Academy), introduced more flexible working options and put a lot of focus into making SaltSep a workplace where people can learn, progress and feel supported.

It's nice to have that work recognised and we're honoured to be shortlisted for an award that recognises the people and culture behind our business.

We're looking forward to the awards evening at Rochdale Town Hall and celebrating alongside the other finalists.

Good luck to everyone shortlisted! 🤞

What actually happens to water when it enters a reverse osmosis system? 💧

Reverse osmosis (RO) plays an important role in producing high-quality water for applications ranging from seawater desalination to industrial processes. But what happens inside an RO system to turn feed water into treated water?

Our latest article breaks down the process into six key stages, following the water from the moment it enters the system through to the final treatment stage.

We explain the role of feed water, pretreatment, high-pressure pumps and RO membranes, as well as what happens to the two streams produced during the process: permeate (product water) and concentrate.

We also explore why understanding your feed water and final water-quality requirements is essential when designing an RO system, and why further treatment may be needed after the membrane stage.

Whether you're new to reverse osmosis or looking to refresh your understanding of the process, our latest article is a useful guide to the fundamentals of RO.

Read the full article on our website to discover how a reverse osmosis system works.
