This C&W Electronics DC drive arrived with us after the customer reported repeated fuse failures. After an initial inspection, our engineer Dave Melia commented that the drive might even be older than he is.🤔

Our team carried out a full assessment and tested all major components, including the Thyristors and the field bridge. During the inspection, we identified a seized heatsink cooling fan along with a welded relay, both contributing to the fault.

To restore the drive, all capacitors and relays were replaced, and any poor solder joints were carefully reflowed to improve long-term reliability and performance.

Once the repair work was completed, the drive was tested continuously for 4 hours in our workshop to ensure stable operation under load. After successfully passing all tests, the unit was prepared and returned to the customer, ready for reinstallation.

At Neutronic Technologies, we understand how important fast and reliable repairs are for keeping production running. Our engineers work on a wide range of DC drives, from legacy systems through to modern industrial equipment, delivering repairs to the highest standard.

This week, we were called out to a customer site to investigate a critical issue with their LJU track system. After an initial assessment, we found that a low voltage track had been exposed to high voltage. This caused serious damage, affecting every drive connected to the 24V line.

Due to the scale of the issue, the full batch of drives was removed and brought back to our workshop for detailed inspection. Our engineers worked through each unit step by step, identifying faults within the communication circuits and carrying out precise component-level repairs.

Once completed, every drive was tested in our 3-phase test bays. This ensured each unit was operating safely, reliably, and ready to return to service.

Jobs like this highlight the importance of accurate diagnostics, thorough testing, and a coordinated team effort. A great result from the team, delivering a fast turnaround and helping the customer get back up and running with minimal disruption.

At Neutronic Technologies, we are proud to be the UK’s official service and repair partner for LJU Automation equipment. With over 25 years of experience in industrial control systems, we provide trusted support for LJU Automation controllers and associated systems used across demanding industries.

A recent urgent breakdown saw a Baumüller Bmaxx drive arrive at our workshop requiring immediate attention.

The unit presented with a blown IGBT and damaged firing stages, causing a complete loss of operation. Our team quickly began a full assessment to identify all faults and prevent any repeat issues.

A complete overhaul was carried out as part of the repair process. This included a full internal clean, followed by the repair of the firing circuit, which was bench tested before installation. The faulty IGBT was replaced, and all serviceable parts were checked and renewed where required to ensure long-term reliability.

Once reassembled, the drive was tested in our 3-phase test facility. It successfully completed a 4-hour soak test, confirming stable performance under load and ensuring the unit was ready for real working conditions.

- Fully tested
- Fully operational
- Ready for immediate reinstallation

The drive is now on its way back to the customer, helping them restore production with minimal downtime.

At Neutronic Technologies, we focus on fast response, detailed repair work, and reliable results to keep industry moving.

A recent repair in our workshop involved a Control Techniques Mentor 2 DC Drive (M75RGB14) from one of the UK’s largest cable manufacturing operations.

The unit arrived with multiple faults affecting performance and reliability. Our engineer, Michael Hilton, carried out a full root cause analysis. This identified several issues, including burnt and broken diodes, open circuit tracks, and a failed switching IC on the control card.

Following diagnosis, the unit was fully serviced, replacing failed components, repairing the damaged tracks, and testing the drive in both directions to confirm it was back to full working order

Once repairs were complete, the unit was fully tested under controlled conditions. The drive was run in both directions to confirm stable operation and performance. The results showed the unit had been restored to full working order.

This type of repair highlights the importance of detailed diagnostics and precision work when dealing with complex industrial electronics. At Neutronic Technologies, we combine technical expertise with a structured repair process to deliver reliable and long-lasting solutions.

A recent repair in our workshop involved an ASEA MBT 132 MD-4 motor that arrived with performance concerns.

The reported fault was low insulation to earth, along with noticeable play in the drive end bearing. Our engineer, Sunday Makinde, carried out a full root cause analysis. The issue was identified as a winding short to earth, which required a complete rewind.

The motor was fully dismantled, and all parts were carefully inspected. A full stator rewind was completed to restore electrical integrity. Both endshields were bored and bushed, and the shaft was repaired to ensure correct alignment and fit.

Additional work included fitting a new cooling supply, manufacturing and installing a new terminal box lid, and carrying out rotor balancing. All components were cleaned, the unit was rebuilt, and the motor was repainted to a high standard.

Following repair, the motor underwent a full run test. The unit performed as expected, confirming a successful repair.

This project reflects our structured approach to fault finding and repair. At Neutronic Technologies, we focus on quality, precision, and reliability in every job we deliver.

A recent repair in our workshop involved an EDMR - HOLA 160P Cd spindle motor from one of the UK’s largest packaging industries. The unit arrived with an unknown fault and required a full inspection.

Our engineer, Sunday Makinde, carried out a detailed root cause analysis. The issue was identified as a winding short, which had affected the motor’s performance and reliability.

The repair process began with full testing of the spindle motor and cooling fan. The unit was then dismantled, and all components were carefully checked. A full stator rewind was completed to restore electrical integrity. Both rotors were balanced to ensure smooth and stable operation.

All parts were cleaned thoroughly, and the cooling fan underwent a complete overhaul. Bearings were replaced to improve reliability and extend service life. The motor was then fully rebuilt and repainted, returning it to a high standard both mechanically and visually.

This repair highlights the importance of accurate fault finding and a controlled repair process. At Neutronic Technologies, we deliver complete in-house solutions for complex rotating equipment, helping our customers reduce downtime and maintain performance.

A recent repair in our workshop involved an Ebmpapst G3G250-GN04-30 electrical fan that had failed on site due to test equipment shorting out.

Our engineer, Timothee Lenge, carried out a full inspection and root cause analysis. It quickly became clear that several components had failed due to high voltage exposure. This type of fault can cause widespread damage across the control board if not addressed correctly.

The unit was fully stripped and serviced. All time-degraded components were replaced to improve long-term reliability. Damaged components were identified and replaced, and detailed traced testing was carried out across the PCB to ensure all circuits were functioning correctly.

Once the repair work was complete, the fan was reassembled and prepared for testing. The final stage involved powering the unit with 230VAC and running a soak test for several hours. This confirmed stable performance and ensured the fan was fully operational before returning to the customer.

At Neutronic Technologies, we combine detailed fault finding with controlled repair processes to deliver reliable results. Our in-house capability allows us to manage every stage of the repair, ensuring quality and consistency throughout.

DC motors remain critical across many industrial applications, where consistent performance and reliability are essential. When faults occur, a precise and controlled repair process is key to restoring full operation.

At Neutronic Technologies, we provide complete in-house DC motor rewind and repair services, carried out by experienced engineers using proven methods. Each repair begins with a detailed inspection to identify wear, electrical faults, or damage to key components such as the commutator and windings.

The motor is then fully stripped down and carefully assessed. Damaged windings are removed, and the armature is prepared for rewind using controlled processes that protect the core. We carry out high-quality rewinding using suitable materials, followed by commutator servicing, bearing replacement where required, and full reassembly.

Every DC motor is thoroughly tested to ensure it meets performance standards before it leaves our workshop. This approach helps extend equipment life, improve reliability, and reduce the risk of unplanned downtime.

Our in-house capability allows us to maintain full control over quality at every stage of the repair process. This ensures consistent results and dependable performance for our customers.
