(The Home of Reigate Camping)

The site is available for Scouting, Guiding, Youth Groups, Schools and D of E groups it is not open to the public. Jordan Heights is a secluded campsite near Reigate. It was once a hillside garden for a member of the Royal Society. During World War 2 it was used to house an army pigeon loft. Reigate District Scouts took over the lease of the campsite from the Nation

al Trust on the 1st November 2011: the site having previously been leased to Girl Guiding Surrey East since September 1952. This is a unique site, hidden away, but within 15 minutes of Reigate Station. An ideal place to walk into or out of from most Scout groups in the District. Jordan Heights is on the wooded slope of Reigate Hill, within easy access of Junction 8 of the M25. Access is via a bridle way and a zig zag path with steps. It is well suited for camps of up to 100 persons. The site is on three levels with a large hut known as Doreen's Lodge on the main camping level. This has an open fire place and lighting. If you want to be a backwoodsman or camp in the traditional way, this is the place for you. It has seclusion, mains water, wash station and seven toilets with lighting . There are tables and benches and lots of different garden games available for use by groups. We have an archery range, a rifle shooting range, Tomahawk Range, transverse Climbing Wall, Mini Cross Bows, Catapults, Pioneering equipment, Camp fire Circle, Night Line, orienteering and assault course. Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer, Network and Leaders will love it.

I am Stepping Down as Warden of Jordan Heights Campsite
After being Warden of Jordan Heights Campsite since the very beginning — when we first started the site all those years ago with Aaron, Derek, Phill, and Angela — the time has come for me to step down from the role.
When we began, Jordan Heights was just a small Guide campsite with only a few campers each year and no facilities at all. Over the years, we have worked hard to develop it into the Jordan Heights Activity Centre & Scout Campsite that so many people know today: a thriving multi‑activity site with fantastic facilities including Archery, Shooting, Tomahawk Throwing, an assault course, Crossbows, an orienteering course, Nightline, Nerf guns, catapults, and so much more. Some years we’ve welcomed over 1,000 campers, including groups from all over Europe.
As an Archery, Shooting, and Tomahawk instructor, I’ve had so much fun teaching young people of all ages. Watching the site grow and improve year after year has made me incredibly proud to be part of Scouting and of everything we’ve achieved at the campsite.
My whole family has been involved in this journey. My son Aaron spent countless hours with me in the early days as we built the site from the ground up. Angela has been involved since the very start and only recently retired from the site herself. And of course Mum and Dad, who gave so much of their time and loved the place as much as any of us.
Although I’m stepping down as Warden, I’m not leaving Scouting — and I’m certainly not leaving Jordan Heights. I will continue as an instructor for Archery, Shooting, and Tomahawk Throwing for groups who don’t have their own instructor, and I’ll still be looking after all the equipment as well.
Jordan Heights has been a huge part of my life, and I’m grateful for every moment, every challenge, and every young person who has passed through our gates. I’m proud of what we’ve built together, and I look forward to supporting the site in this next chapter.
Many thanks Spence
