Are you ready for the first-ever Expo North?

Taking place at the Bolton Stadium Hotel on the 30th April, this event brings together contractors, consultants, developers and suppliers to connect, learn, and explore possibilities.

Craig Jarman and Max du Plessis will be showcasing our range of ground support solutions for erosion control, slope stability, and retaining structures, together with the innovative Plati-Drain for reducing pore water and hydrostatic pressure.

When failed slopes threaten main roads and residential properties, thorough remediation is essential.

Following a week of heavy rainfall, this 4.5-5m high slope failed, placing both the adjacent main road and nearby residential properties at risk, and threatening public safety.

After an initial assessment, a temporary slope stabilisation solution was developed using Platipus Mechanical Anchors. This would manage stability and ensure safety during the construction of a permanent retaining wall.

Works are being delivered by DDGA for Island Roads. Stay tuned for more updates on this project!

From projects large to small, Platipus has them covered.

The headline figures for this noise attenuation bund that was showing signs of instability:
- 500m linear extent
- 5-6m high
- Slopes up to 70°
- 4,000 Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEA®)
- 2 rows of Plati-Drain™

Scale like this brings real-world challenges: constrained access and the need to minimise disruption.

To address this, anchors were installed using a combination of handheld tools and tracked excavators, with rope-access specialists from EIS Services Group, to overcome site constraints. While the immediately quantifiable loads ensured remediation could continue without returning to worked areas.

More details to follow soon!

Today marked the first instalment of this year’s Rail Infrastructure Networking

Taking place at the Old Billingsgate in London, the marketing team joined Craig Jarman, Max du Plessis, and Rohan Jhalla from Platipus Anchors and Lee Hudson and Mark Jolly from Minova. This was a brilliant opportunity to showcase our comprehensive range of ground support and drainage solutions, and the team thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many industry professionals at this very well-attended event.

Today we proudly celebrate , recognising the engineers whose expertise, creativity and problem‑solving shape a smarter, more sustainable world.

This year’s theme, “Smart Engineering for a Sustainable Future through Innovation and Digitalisation,” highlights how engineering-led solutions are driving progress.

At 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗽𝘂𝘀 we see this in action every day. Our mechanical anchors are engineered to deliver high performance with minimal environmental impact, supporting infrastructure, construction, utilities, renewables and landscape projects around the world. Through innovative product design, material efficiency and responsible manufacturing, our Low Carbon Anchoring Solutions (LCAS®) demonstrate how smart engineering can reduce embodied carbon while maintaining strength, reliability and safety where it matters most.

At the end of January, a landslip in Ockley left one track hanging in mid-air after a rotational failure of an embankment composed of saturated soils from prolonged heavy rain.

Works included re-grading the slope into a bench formation and installing 47 anchored steel piles, using Platipus Percussion Driven Earth Anchors (PDEA®), providing rapid stabilisation.

To minimise the closure period, EIS Group needed anchors at short notice, and Platipus supplied anchors within 48 hours, keeping works on schedule.

Platipus Anchors offer an effective solution for emergency/reactive works, with quick installation, immediately verifiable working loads and 120-year design life.

Once again, brilliant collaboration from everyone at EIS Services Group, M Group Rail & Aviation, Sonic Rail Services Ltd., SEP Geotech, and Network Rail Southern Region.

When it rains every day, are you prepared?

The UK has had an exceptionally wet start to 2026, with the Met Office revealing that parts of the country have seen rainfall every day so far. Prolonged saturation can lead to elevated pore water pressures within slopes and increased hydrostatic pressure behind retaining structures. These conditions can trigger shallow or deep-seated instability, putting assets, operations and public safety at risk.

Plati-Drain™ delivers deep drainage pathways to relieve elevated pore water pressures and trapped hydrostatic pressure. Used across industries worldwide, Plati-Drain™ is a proven solution to improve ground drainage performance and help protect infrastructure against extreme weather events.
