One for the Porsche fans! The intermediate shaft (AKA IMS) conceals more than meets the eye. Around £1000 for a replacement, we try and reuse it when possible. When we strip a Porsche 911 ‘Mezger’ engine of the air-cooled (all) or water-cooled (996/997 Turbo, GT3, GT2) we take over ten measurements to check this little shaft alone. This one has been stripped, cleaned, hard-chromed to recover worn and scored journals, and then carefully rebuilt - overall the cost was less than half of a new one. Swipe to see some other IMS shenanigans, including upgrading to straight cut gears, and converting a 930 IMS to drive a 993TT turbo scavenge pump. We know lots of other Mezger stuff too, so if you want a proper rebuild on your engine, give us a call.
