As No Falls Week approaches, we’re backing a simple message — safer work at height starts with better access.

At Alto Access, that’s what we focus on every day. The Height of Safety.

We’re proud to be supporting No Falls Week 18–22 May 2026, joining others across the industry in sharing best practice and shining a spotlight on working at height safety.

We’ll be sharing more throughout the lead-up and during the week.

⚠️ Poorly assembled towers used during factory renovation

We were concerned to learn of the serious injuries suffered by a worker who fell from a ladder while renovating a former handbag factory in London in August 2021.

An investigation by the Health and Safety Executive identified significant failings in the management of work at height, including uncontrolled ladder use and incorrectly assembled access towers.

These issues continued despite the company having received a Prohibition Notice for unsafe work at height just one month earlier.

The employer later pleaded guilty to breaching the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and was fined.

At Alto Access, working at height is not treated as routine. It demands robust systems, correct assembly and equipment designed to protect people from the outset. Safety must be engineered in — not inspected in after the event.

Work at height must be planned, supervised and compliant. Safety is not optional.

How Towers Are Certified

Charles Wright from Lakeside Industries lifts the lid on tower certification, giving an exclusive look behind the scenes at how towers are tested and proven safe and compliant.

Filmed at the PASMA Conference in September, this insightful talk is now available to watch on demand.

🎬 Honoured to be part of setting the standard in tower safety!

Today, a camera crew is in Soham filming PASMA training in action, featuring Alto Access equipment. These videos will help instructors deliver courses, support delegates preparing for their training, and serve as a useful resource for anyone who missed last year’s CPD event in Glasgow.

We’re proud to contribute to high-quality training and safer working at height practices across the UK.

Alto Mini Tower — Mini Tower. Maximum Performance

What if a one‑person access tower didn’t feel like a compromise?
Our latest post dives into how the Alto Mini Tower redefines what a solo‑operable access solution can be — not just in terms of height and compact size, but in how it improves real‑world safety and usability.

🔎 Key highlights you’ll find in the article:
• It’s designed for one person to transport, assemble, use and dismantle — but with features that reduce the risk of human error.
• Linked brace hooks make correct bracing easier with one hand.
• Gravity‑operated auto‑latch frames eliminate forgotten pins and clips.
• Built with durable 2 mm aluminium tube and no weak plastic fittings — engineered for longevity.
• Transport trolley base protects components on the move and keeps everything together.
• Fully compliant with BS EN 1004

🚧 Step Up to Safety on Every Scaffold 🚧

Universal Stairs from Alto aren’t just another stair solution – they’re designed around how scaffolders actually build. Pre-assembled, tube-and-fitting friendly, and fully compliant, they fold flat for transport and attach to standard 48mm tube using just a scaffolder’s spanner.

On busy sites, safe access isn’t just about reducing falls – it’s about reducing congestion, minimising risk, and keeping work flowing. Our latest blog explains why Universal Stairs deliver real-world practicality, flexible handrail options, and long-term value across repeated projects.

Most scaffold safety discussions focus on edges — guardrails, toe boards, ties. All important. But the more frequent, overlooked risk sits between the lifts, where people move dozens of times a day under time pressure.

Rushed movements, awkward transitions, and improvised step-ups are where falls happen. That’s where access design shapes behaviour.

Ladders create predictable pressure points: variable lift heights, step-ups to bridge gaps, temporary transition platforms. Over time, these compromises become “normal” and movement becomes less deliberate.

The Alto Universal Stair addresses the root cause, not the symptom:

Safety isn’t just rules — it’s about design that works under real-world conditions. The safest way between scaffold levels is the one people can use properly, every time.

Celebrating The team

A great moment from our Christmas get-together. It was a chance to step back, recognise the effort across the business, and spend time together outside the day-to-day. A strong team culture underpins everything we do, and this was a simple way to mark another year of hard work and shared progress.
