Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Electrician / Electrical Fitter to support our expanding portfolio of smart energy and electrical infrastructure projects across the UK. This role is critical to the delivery of electric vehicle (EV) charging installations, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, smart energy solutions, and general electrical installation and maintenance works.
The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, testing, commissioning, and maintaining electrical and electro-mechanical systems in line with UK regulations and industry best practices. This position plays a key role in ensuring project delivery, compliance, safety, and client satisfaction as the business continues to grow.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Installation & Maintenance
• Install, inspect, test, commission, and maintain electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial environments.
• Carry out installation and maintenance of EV charging points, solar panel systems, and smart energy technologies.
• Diagnose electrical faults and undertake corrective repairs efficiently and safely.
Smart Energy & Renewable Systems
• Support the deployment of renewable energy and low-carbon technologies, including solar PV and energy storage systems.
• Work with smart meters, control panels, and energy management systems.
• Ensure systems are integrated and operating efficiently to meet client and contractual requirements.
Compliance & Safety
• Ensure all works comply with UK electrical standards (BS 7671 – IET Wiring Regulations), health and safety legislation, and company procedures.
• Complete electrical testing, certification, and documentation accurately.
• Maintain a strong focus on site safety and risk management.
Project Support & Client Interaction
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to meet project deadlines.
• Liaise with clients and other stakeholders to provide technical input and resolve on-site issues.
• Support quality assurance and handover processes on completed installations.
Qualifications and Skills Required
• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Installation or related discipline.
• Proven experience as an Electrician or Electrical Fitter, ideally within EV charging, renewable energy, or smart energy systems.
• Strong understanding of UK electrical regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and technical specifications.
• Practical problem-solving skills with a proactive and professional approach.
• Good communication skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Full UK driving licence (preferred, depending on site requirements).
Business Need & Sponsorship Justification
We are requesting one (1) Certificate of Sponsorship to support the recruitment of a Medium Skilled Worker under SOC Code 5241 (Electricians and Electrical Fitters) due to ongoing business expansion and a significant increase in project workload across the UK.
Demand for our services has grown substantially, particularly in:
• Electric vehicle charging point installations
• Solar panel and renewable energy installations
• Smart energy and low-carbon electrical systems
• Electrical installation and maintenance contracts
These projects require specialist electrical and smart energy expertise that has proven difficult to source consistently from the resident labour market. The role requires hands-on technical skills and experience with modern electro-mechanical and renewable systems, which are essential to delivering current and future contracts.
