Pride is about being seen. So is dignity. 🏳️‍🌈

We're halfway through Pride Month - and it's got us thinking about a space that says more about inclusion than most people realise: the washroom.

It's one of the few rooms everyone uses, and one of the few we rarely talk about. But it's often where inclusion quietly shows up, or quietly doesn't.

Getting it right means designing for everyone:

👉 Dignity for all genders, including men's dignity units that are still too often overlooked
👉 Period products offered as standard, in every washroom, not as an afterthought
👉 Accessible, clearly signed facilities people can use with confidence

Inclusion isn't a poster on the wall. It's the everyday details that tell people they belong - and the washroom is one of them.

And this isn't only about the spaces we look after - it's about who we are. Our own team brings together people of all heritages and identities, and our door will always be open to every one of them.

This Pride Month, we're proud to support workplaces where everyone feels safe, comfortable and respected. Every day, not just in June. Happy Pride. 🏳️‍🌈

A brilliant day at the Francis Crick Institute 🚲

Earlier this week, Stephen and Raq, attended the Francis Crick Institute's Sustainability Day - alongside Principle and their other suppliers.

The team used the day to introduce more of the Liberty range - including our men's dignity units, PureHold self-sanitising door handles, and our new large-space fragrance system from Figg Products.

Joining them was Sam Worden, founder of Ride, Recycle, Repeat talking about a problem most cyclists have never thought about: bike inner tubes and tyres can't go in normal recycling. Over 10 million kg of them end up in UK landfill every year, simply because standard refuse services can't process them.

Ride, Recycle, Repeat - delivered in partnership with Liberty Hygiene - changes that. We bring inner tube and tyre recycling straight into office buildings.

The response at the Francis Crick Institute was fantastic, and the conversations are already turning into action.

£11,771. That’s what a room full of industry professionals raised for on Friday.

The Cleaning and Support Services Association annual luncheon at the Savoy had all the right ingredients - Hal Cruttenden on hosting duties, a great speech from Paul Ashton C.Env.Cln on where the industry’s heading, and a guest talk from Martine Wright MBE that reminded everyone what real resilience looks like.

But the number above is the bit that matters. Catch22 helps young people facing tough starts find a way forward, and our industry got behind that in a big way.

It's World Environment Day - so here's one thing that doesn't get talked about enough: recycling extends beyond consumables.

When a washroom unit starts looking tired - scuffed casing, faded colour - the easy option is to pull it out and fit a brand new one. More plastic. More waste. Another unit in landfill.

We stopped doing that. Now, instead of replacing older units, we:
→ Clean and fully sterilise them
→ Respray them back to "as new" in the client's chosen colour
→ Put them straight back into service

Same unit. Longer life. A fraction of the waste.

It sounds like a small change. But across hundreds of units, it keeps a serious amount of perfectly usable plastic out of the ground - and it works out cheaper for our clients, too.

Today is Menstrual Hygiene Day.

And it's a good moment to say something that doesn't get said enough: making period products freely available in your washrooms is only half the job. The other half is making sure they're actually there when someone needs them.

Free dispensers without any access controls run empty. Fast. The people who genuinely need them - a visitor, someone caught off guard, a member of your team - find nothing. The gesture becomes hollow.

Most buildings spend a lot on their floors. Far fewer think about what happens right at the door.

Today, Scott Marshall marks 20 years at Liberty Hygiene as CEO 👏

Glenn Marshall hits his own 20 years this July. Kathleen Marshall lands hers just weeks later. Between the three of them, that's 60 years inside this business - the sort of history that speaks for itself.

In 2006, there was no electric fleet, no B Corp certification. Just a clear belief that hygiene services should work around you, not the other way around. Twenty years on, that's still how we operate.

Happy 20th, Scott. Glenn and Kathleen, yours are coming soon.

It's Andy Smith's birthday week. And we couldn't let it go by without saying something.

Andy is Liberty's Chief Product Installer and has been for 15 years. If it gets installed on a site, Andy's the one who makes it happen.

He is also, without question, the most committed Tottenham Hotspur fan in the building. We won't hold that against him.

Fifteen years of showing up, doing the job right, and doing it with that cheeky grin that makes even the difficult days easier.
