Hello
I Just Wanted to let you know about my crazy new challenge/adventure in 2 weeks time. I plan to take part in the Pen Llyn She Ultra MARATHON…not a word I expected to see connected to my name, it’s a 50km (that’s 30 miles to us oldies) run/hike. I initially signed up last sunny July way back when it all seemed like such a great idea 🥴 and have now been in training for the last 5 months.. so that training has meant out walking in the horizontal rain, hail and wind, up and down every hill this area has to offer and there are many believe me, but I’ve also spent hours in the oh soooo very very boring gym and despite some injury’s to knees, Achilles and self belief! I think I might finally be as ready as I can be🤞

So let me tell you a bit about the She Ultra and why I’ve decided it might be a good thing for me to get involved
The She Ultra is simply about approx 2000 women getting together to run, hike or walk 50km around the Llyn peninsula across all sorts of sometimes very demanding terrain steep hills, muddy narrow coastal paths all to raise money for the many different cancer charities caring for women across the UK.

Prior to moving to North Wales I spent 30+ years working as a palliative care nurse caring for and supporting patients with a cancer diagnosis at the end of their life and having also experienced the such sad loss of both my parents Nigel and Shirley far to early in their lives, along with some very dear family and friends I really felt it was a challenge worth the hard work and training. All this experience has helped me to understand the difficulties and challenges facing these charities and services but also to understand the importance of funding to enable them to continue providing this vital care and support of patients and their families. I know times are very difficult at the moment for everyone but if you can donate even a pound (link below) that would be great but if not that’s ok too, just give some time to think about these women running and hiking on the 11th April and send positive vibes to help us on our way.
