Busy week in the shop 🔧
Cylinder heads repaired across the board — from Renaults to John Deeres.
Check the B18 with Darton sleeves, resurfaced it for a good friend looking forward to seeing the build!

Plenty going on in the workshop at the moment!

We’ve got a BMW 520 cylinder head in for a full rebuild, a massive Ford Cargo block getting flanged liners fitted, Simons Vauxhall Astra VXR in for a rebuild with upgraded valve springs and brand new valves.

Been a bit quiet on here recently due to being so busy but here’s Mick’s Daimler Sovereign 2.4 bottom end we just finished up 👌🏽
Work done to bring this short motor back to life:
• Crank polished & new plugs fitted
• Block rebored +30 thou
• Block decked
• Oil pump rebuilt
• Every nut & bolt wire-wheeled, threads re-tapped, and 50 years of grime cleared out

Back into a variety of work at the moment — it’s refreshing to step away from engine builds and get back into some precision machine work.

We’ve had a good mix of jobs in recently. Con rods have been lightened and balance-honed on both the little and big ends. A 4-cylinder John Deere head came in for a full overhaul, while a flywheel was lightened ahead of a complete bottom-end balance. We’ve also had a set of Range Rover SVR cylinder heads in for valve reseating, reshim, and a skim. 🚜🔧

🔧 Joe’s Engine Build – Progress Update! 🔧

Here’s a look at Joe’s engine, currently mid-assembly. Before we reached this stage, it went through extensive machining and checks to ensure everything’s spot on. 🛠️

✅ Block top skimmed
✅ Cylinders rebored to suit oversized pistons
✅ Piston rings gapped precisely
✅ Con rods balanced
✅ Pistons weight-matched

We take pride in every detail – precision now means performance later. Stay tuned for the finished result!

This 3.5 Rover V8 turned out so good we almost kept it for ourselves. Needed a rebore and the usual cam + lifter drama, but now it’s ready to run sweet with fresh manifolds and twin SUs on top. Proper old-school British grunt. 🇬🇧

Joe’s forged engine is in its final stages! Had to ease up on machining this week—things have been packed with full engine builds!

The Rover V8 rebuild is underway!
There’s been plenty of machining and cleaning—this engine was seriously worn. As expected, the cam lobes and lifters were completely rounded off. To make matters worse, there was a whopping 0.032” of crank end float—the bearings were severely worn down. 🤯
