It’s a sentence we hear regularly, and it never becomes ordinary to us.

A recommendation means somebody was happy enough with our work to put our name forward when a friend, relative or neighbour needed something of their own.

The darker nights are creeping in, and they have a habit of making us look at our properties differently.

An open driveway or unsecured side access that barely crosses your mind during long summer evenings can suddenly feel much more noticeable when you're arriving home in the dark.

Made-to-measure gates can create a clear boundary around your property while still complementing the appearance of your home.

That could mean traditional wrought iron–style gates, contemporary composite boards or something completely bespoke to suit your entrance.

Security doesn't need to make a home feel unwelcoming.

Done thoughtfully, it can improve privacy, define your space and create an entrance you're pleased to come home to.

That awkward bit of your property might not be as awkward as you think.

Sloping ground, unusual openings, narrow access and existing structures can make standard gates or railings difficult to fit.

But that's precisely where made-to-measure fabrication earns its place.

Instead of trying to make the property accommodate a standard product, the steelwork can be designed around the property itself.

You don't need an engineering drawing to bring us an idea.

Some of our most interesting projects begin with considerably less than that.

A photograph.

A rough sketch.

A design spotted somewhere years ago.

Or simply a client saying, “I know what I want it to look like, but I don’t know how to make it work.”

That’s where bespoke fabrication comes into its own.

We can take the idea, consider the property and work towards something that is practical, made to measure and personal to the client who asked for it.

You don’t have to settle for the nearest thing you can find in a catalogue simply because your idea is different.

You can put your company name on a sign. Making that name mean something takes a little longer.

A&N Davies Fabrications has grown through years of projects, returning clients and people being willing to pass our name on to somebody else.

That reputation matters to us.

Every set of gates, every railing and every bespoke project becomes another example of our work sitting outside somebody’s home long after we've left site.

As the company grows and our name becomes recognised further afield, we want the reason people choose us to remain exactly the same.

They've seen the work.

They've heard about us from someone they trust.

And they want their own project done with the same care.

October always seems to be the month when “we’ll sort that this year” suddenly becomes “we’d better get that sorted…”

If new gates, railings, composite panels or another piece of bespoke steelwork has been sitting on your list for 2026, now is the time to start the conversation.

Good fabrication takes planning.

There are measurements to consider, designs to agree and workshop time to allow for before a finished project is ready to make its way to your property.

We’d always rather be realistic about that than promise something that can be rushed through.

As we move towards the final months of the year, our fabrication schedule continues to fill with projects clients are keen to get underway.

One thing definitely isn’t frightening us this October - the number of composite gates coming through the workshop. 👻

They continue to be one of our most requested options, and there’s a good reason for that.

Composite boards offer a smart, contemporary finish while sitting within a made-to-measure steel frame built specifically for the property.

For clients who like the appearance of timber but would rather avoid regular repainting and the possibility of rot, composite provides a practical alternative with considerably less ongoing upkeep.

They can add privacy, help define an entrance and completely change the first impression of a property.

If composite gates have been on your list for this year, October is a good time to start talking to us about your ideas and getting your project into the schedule.

Not every old gate belongs in the graveyard. 🎃

A gate or set of railings can look decidedly worse for wear while still having perfectly sound steel underneath.

That’s why it’s worth exploring refurbishment before assuming everything needs to be replaced.

Depending on the condition of the steelwork, we can repair or modify existing pieces before they’re prepared and given renewed protection and finish.

For some clients, keeping the original matters too.

Older steelwork can carry family history, memories or simply be part of the character of a property that nobody wants to lose.

Refurbishment isn’t automatically the cheaper route, but when something is worth preserving, it can absolutely be the right one.

Some of our favourite projects start with a client saying, “I’ve got an idea…”

Bespoke fabrication means you don’t have to choose the closest thing you can find from a standard range.

If you have a particular design in mind, an unusual space to work with, or even a rough sketch of something you’d love to see on your property, bring the idea to us.

We can take that starting point and work out how to turn it into something practical, made to measure and completely individual to your home.

That’s exactly what happened with this custom request.

The client had a clear idea of what they wanted, and our job was to listen, understand the vision and use our experience to turn it into finished steelwork they could actually enjoy.

There’s something particularly satisfying about seeing an idea move from a conversation to a finished piece.

So don’t worry if what you want isn’t something you’ve seen us make before.

Sometimes the best projects are the ones we haven’t made yet.
