❌ Not sure which fixing to use?
✅ Here’s the quick rundown.

Frame fixings are best for fixing window and door frames into brick, block or concrete.
Anchor fixings are used when you need a strong hold for heavier loads like brackets, battens and fixtures on masonry.

Simple rule:
Frame fixing = frames
Anchor fixing = heavier fixings

❌ Stop guessing screw length on site.
✅ Do the 3-check fit test:

1) material thickness (what you’re fastening)
2) bite depth (how much grabs)
3) pilot/drill clearance (so it doesn’t bind)

We see it all the time: too short won’t hold, too long splits board or fouls your drill.

Comment “FIX” and we’ll tell you exactly what to stock for your next board/sheet job. Then shop or learn more at alwaysfirst4fixings.co.uk.

Loose fitting. Stripped anchor. Door not sitting right.

That one fixings problem started with a message from a builder on site—sent us a quick photo, explained what was moving, and where the fixing was failing.

We matched the right high-performance fixings/fasteners for the material and load, tightened everything back into alignment, and got the job moving again ✅

That “almost tight” screw keeps cam-outting—why? 😬

In timber and MDF, it’s usually the wrong combo of drive type, bit fit, and screw geometry.

Quick checklist before you drive again:
• Pick the right anti-cam-out screw (coated for grip)
• Use bit-friendly geometry (stays seated under torque)
• Match your drive type (PH/Pozi/Torx)
• Don’t over-drive past the head

We’ll help you match length, gauge, and drive type to the job—timber vs MDF, plus thickness. Message Always First 4 Fixings for a proper fix-up.

Your tools feel sluggish? ❌
Dusty guards, dull bits, loose fixings—then you wonder why work feels harder than it should.

✅ Do a “15-minute Friday” reset:
Wipe down dust build-up.
Check/click test your guards & chucks.
Re-torque key fixings.
Swap dull bits/blades before Monday.

Finish by storing batteries/hand tools in a dry, consistent spot so you’re ready when you are—then tell us what you use most and we’ll point you to the right accessories.

POV: you drill in, the shelf wobbles, and your fix feels pointless. ❌

It usually starts with using the wrong fixings into soft plaster/old brick. You’ll see it loosen again in days.

✅ For a wobbly shelf/loose skirting: we’d switch to the fastener match for the substrate—typically a suitable masonry plug with the correct screw for brick, or the right wall anchor for plasterboard—then tighten with the right size/length.

Ask us at Always First 4 Fixings for: the fixing for your wall type (plaster/brick/plasterboard), plus the screw length to grab solid material.
