Congratulations ! 👏 to Hugh Ward, Senior CFD Consultant at Cape Horn Engineering, who crewed onboard 'Jubilee', winner of the 2023 Cape 31 National Championship.

A keen sailor, Hugh has competed regularly at national and international level including a world championship with notable achievements and qualified to represent GBR at the Sailing Champions League.

The championship took place over three days, with 26 Cape 31's racing and featured a series of seven races in the stunning waters of Christchurch Bay.

Tony Dicken and his crew on 'Jubilee' dominated the 2023 Cape 31 UK National Championships, with 4 race wins in a row to firmly put themselves on the top spot after day 2. With 25 other highly competitive Cape 31 teams competing, they certainly didn’t make it easy for them.

The huge growth of this class, makes for some of the most enjoyable and exciting one design racing around. Definitely one to keep watching ! 😀

As performance and efficiency become increasingly more important in reducing vessel emissions and exploring sustainable energy systems, CFD technology and design optimisation are at the forefront of many new designs.

With the demand for our CFD services continuing to grow, we are pleased to announce we have expanded our technical team and are delighted to welcome Marcus Boyd into Cape Horn Engineering.

Based in Wiltshire, Marcus has recently completed his second year studying Aerospace Engineering at UWE (University of the West of England) and is now undertaking a 1 full year placement with us, as a CFD Engineer.

In his spare time, Marcus enjoys surfing, free-diving and motorbike riding.

Cape Horn Engineering proudly participated in the Innovate UK programme, (GBIP) focused on Norway Clean Maritime. A superb action packed agenda for the week explored many exciting opportunities for UK-Norway collaborations, with a focus on developing key partnerships and understanding the infrastructure required to enable the Green Shipping Corridors.

We represented the UK maritime Industry at Nor-Shipping 2023 in Oslo, where the future of shipping and decarbonisation were prime concerns. Many innovations and net-zero emissions power generating solutions were showcased. We were delighted to meet new potential clients and also some of our established customers, and received lots of interest for our CFD services and technology solutions to help accelerate shipping decarbonisation.
