Yet another KAD win. We've 6 of a similar budget either about to start or started! Like buses, planning approvals suddenly landing at once! But within a year, they'll be almost 80 additional dwellings in the region thanks to team KAD!

PLANS to rejuvenate part of a Southampton street have been given the go-ahead - despite fears that "nationally important" archaeological…

As with all the other "solutions', I'll believe it when I see it and I'll trust it when anyone in leadership can answer a few simple scientific questions they all glibly overlook!

A DEAL has been agreed to protect habitats in the Solent from nitrates.

Another KAD project where unfortunately a minority neighbourhood voice has made the application a little trickier!

Whilst the outcome of the Judicial Review (brought in Fareham by a Warsash residents group) waits to see if the Nitrates crisis in the planning system is correctly addressed by buying a slice of a farm on the Isle of Wight for a few thousand pounds - this year looks like the algal bloom will be worse than ever. This is Bosham where the rotting bloom around the creek is clearly poisoning and suffocating the water (the sea grasses are clearly dead) - so probably no Sand Eels and likely no Terns.... Our drinking water however has more nitrate content than most of the country but the penny hasn't dropped yet!

Another KAD project, helping MDL with four of it's marinas so far and working closely with Logical Group in their design and installation....

MDL now produces over 150,000kWh after installation of new solar panels at our Cobb’s Quay Marina.

Planning Part 20 Success! Today we've won our first new p.20 class AB approval for adding 2 floors to a commercial building using Prior Approval! We already won consent to convert the first floor to residential for residential.

We understand almost all applied for nationally since Boris gave his Build Build Build speech and the route came about last September have been refused. We've lost 2 in SCC (an A and a ZA) but hope for the best with our 2 running in Portsmouth and we've lots more ready to roll!

Nitrates - major upset in the system!
Anyone who knows me is aware of the nitrate debacle which has halted most development in South Hampshire for almost 2yrs now. The 12 planning authorities in the region have screwed up the system in their own ways but (despite my lengthy objection in principal) at least purchasing credits from the local wildlife trust (at around £3000 per house) looked to be a solution and a little movement had at last started....
Until I read on Friday that two resident groups in Warsash & Portchester had managed to get a high court stoppage to Fareham planning approvals (that previously were only blocked by the absence of a Nitrate Neutrality statement) from their reliance on purchasing credits to get consent. The new system is you pay a fortune to a charity who used government money to buy a nice natural looking farm on the Isle of Wight - to take it out of agriculture and make it a public wildlife park (i.e. meadows turned into, meadows!) and this act would stop eutrophication in Portsmouth Harbour! Note, this is the excessive nutrients we get in our drinking water making their way to the harbour and promoting excessive algae growth which suffocates the ecosystem.
The court agrees the principal of offsetting doesn't fit with the EU Habitats Directive - and challenges how Natural England are justifying their present approach!
There are almost 2,000 homes blocked in the system. Hopefully local councils will re-examine the whole Nitrate issue and I look forward to the question being asked... "why do Portsmouth Water residents have such high N levels in their drinking water - and how do they leak so much into the culverts with impunity?" But until then, the only way to get approvals for urban applications is to try and buy the credits - but buying rocking-horse excrement would be easier!

Another KAD project in the papers. We've converted this site (former huge CoOp) into a smaller Tesco, Dominos, a.n.o. and we're planning for 8 flats over.
Watch this space for more news on this site!

HOPES are high that new life will be brought to a shopping precinct with the arrival of new stores.

More from the 'you couldn't make it up' status of planning at the moment... we have Portsmouth City Council giving out this new standard response to planning applications....

"Please accept my apologies for the delay with dealing with your application. We are currently dealing with a significant backlog of applications due to various reasons.

I can confirm that we have received your application and it is currently on the list to be outsourced to an external company for validation and a decision. Currently, we are working on applications received at the beginning of June and applications are dealt with in date order.

It is intended that we will be completely caught up with validation by the beginning of January, thereafter, normal service will resume as per our customer's expectations.

Thank you in advance for your patience during this time"
