Rusty 715bhp Impreza... all four jacking points, drivers footwell, inner/middle/outer sills, front chassis legs all cut out and replaced with fresh steel. Filled with dinitrol wax so should last a bit longer.

Lada update.

Bits and bobs have been happening to Project Tovarishch. The gauges have been test fitted into their cnc'd test panels and fit nicely. The final material will be a wood veneer. The rear seats have been completed bar upholstery. I used the rears from the Alfa 156 that the fronts came from. Both the foam and the framework have been massively reshaped to fit the proportions of the Lada, and I can confirm that they are massively comfortable.
The wiring loom is 95% done, including the engine stuff. I've modified the full MX5 loom and removed all the stuff that is unnecessary. Deutsch plugs ensure decent watertight connections and the whole harness can be fully extracted without too much bother. Using the MX5 loom allows me to use the stalks and wiper motor from that car so everything is easier to get hold of.
I always felt that this should be a true 4 seater and I wanted a full length console. I drew one up and had it cut. A bit of work was required for the aluminium console to transition but overall I'm happy with it.
I'm currently working on the underside of the dash, thinking about access to fuses and how it's going to be upholstered.
The engine is also nearly done. Not much left to do but clean, paint and final assembly.

Project Tovarishch update!

Front end build part 2

Fabrication is nearly complete! Just a few tweaks here and there, some brackets for wires and plumbing etc, and a dashboard to build. This album and part 1 cover the fabrication and engineering of the front end. I wanted to make all of the sheet metal removable like a moder car. These photos show what I've done, making the inner wings and structure, modifying the outer quarters, custom wheel arches, anti roll bar mounting, washer bottle, wiper motor and mount, BMW projector headlights, custom bonnet hinges, bonnet hump and other bits I've forgotten about!

Front end build part 1

Fabrication is nearly complete! Just a few tweaks here and there, some brackets for wires and plumbing etc, and a dashboard to build. This album and part 2 cover the fabrication and engineering of the front end. I wanted to make all of the sheet metal removable like a modern car. Massive photo dump of Lada progress. Back end is all done. 58 litre fuel tank, internal pump and swirl pot. The boot floor has been given an access panel. I've also made mounts for a space saver spare which incorpates a jacking pad that screws into a reinforced rear panel. I've redone the sump so that it sits within the chassis rails. Capacity has stayed the same and the pick up pipe has been made to match. I'm now on the front end which is another mammoth task. Originally the front metal was all welded together. I want the front wings and panel to all unbolt from the main chassis. This is necessitating quite a lot of re engineering and the pattern part front wings also need alot of work where channels have been spot welded the shape has been distorted therefore om going to have to drill put the welds and reset the tops of the wings and A pillar flanges.
