A brief look into the history of the .50 Cal Ammo Tin (M2A1)
The M2A1 am******on tin, also known as 'Box, Metal, M2A1' or 'Chest Am******on: M2A1', originated from the United States during world war 2 and became standardised in the 1950's for the storage and transport of 100 linked .50 caliber machine gun rounds, which would have been fired by the M2 Browning machine gun. This versatile steel tin was also used to transport various ammo of different calibers. Boasting a rubber seal, removable lid and swing catch, this box is the ideal choice for many countries around the world who still use these boxes for ammo and other ancillaries today! After years of service, these boxes are emptied and decommissioned. They move on to a variety of places, including surplus stores like ourselves (Bogey Knights!), where they are sold on to be repurposed as storage tins for tools, fishing equipment and various other exciting things!
We have a large stock of .50 tins for sale online and in store right now, ranging from £10-£20 depending on condition!
