Suspended loads are used across almost every industry, but the risk behind them is often the same.

From stage lighting and chandeliers to industrial doors, conveyor systems, chain hoists, galvanising plants, and general material handling, if something is lifted or suspended, there’s always a question of what happens if the primary support fails.

GUARD Load Arrest is designed for that exact situation.

It acts as a secondary safety measure, automatically arresting a falling load to help protect both equipment and people below.

This image series shows how GUARD Load Arrest is used across a range of real environments, each with different demands, but the same need for reliable protection.

Because when loads are suspended, safety shouldn’t depend on just one point of failure.

Can only approved service centres service Guard Load Arrest units?

YES.

These are critical safety devices designed to protect suspended loads at height, so servicing isn’t something that should be done by just anyone. To ensure performance and safety, inspections and servicing should only be carried out by Globestock Safety certified service agents.

GUARD Load Arrest products must be serviced at least every 12 months (or sooner if used in harsh conditions), and always after the device has arrested a falling load.

To make this easier, we’ve added an interactive map on our website, so you can quickly find your nearest approved service agent.

What happens if suspended equipment fails?

From stage lighting above audiences to production lines, industrial doors, chain hoists, and material handling systems, some loads simply can’t be allowed to fall.

That’s where GUARD Load Arrest comes in.

Designed to automatically arrest a falling load if the primary support fails, it helps protect both equipment and people below across a wide range of applications.

In this video, we show GUARD in action across:
• Stage & theatre lighting
• Chandeliers
• Industrial doors
• Conveyor lifts
• Galvanising plants
• Chain hoists and material handling

With self-retracting rope, shock-absorbing brake, and capacities from 150 kg (330 lbs) to 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs), it’s built for critical safety applications.

Because if a load is suspended, it needs protection.

How far will a load actually fall before it’s stopped?

In this video, Stuart Raby explains an important but often misunderstood factor in load protection, stopping distance when using a GUARD Load Arrest system.

When equipment is suspended at height, it’s not just about whether it’s protected, but how it’s arrested in the event of a fall. Understanding stopping distance is critical to planning a safe setup and avoiding unexpected impact or damage.

GUARD Load Arrest devices are designed to protect both static and mobile loads using a high-strength, retractable rope and a shock-absorbing brake system, helping to control forces during arrest.

Key features include:
• Protection for loads from 150 kg (330 lbs) to 1,500 kg (3,300 lbs)
• Rope lengths up to 25 m (82 ft)
• Self-retracting, high-strength rope (galvanised or stainless steel options)
• Shock-absorbing brake to reduce impact forces
• Fall indicator for easy inspection
• Annual service requirement to maintain performance

Because when it comes to suspended loads, understanding the details, like stopping distance, makes all the difference.

Industrial roller doors are often not given due consideration, but when they fail, the risks can be serious.

Guard Load Arrestors offer a critical safety backup, helping prevent uncontrolled door falls that could endanger people, vehicles, and equipment.

Installed above the door, the system works seamlessly during normal operation. In the event of a mechanical failure, it activates instantly, arresting the fall and bringing the door to a controlled stop.

Available in capacities from 150 kg to 1,500 kg, with a shock-absorbing brake and high-strength retractable rope, it’s a cost-effective way to upgrade safety without replacing existing doors.

What happens if a roller shutter door fails?

Without a secondary safety system, a falling door can pose a serious risk to people, vehicles, and equipment.

Guard Load Arrestors from Globestock Safety are designed to act instantly in these situations, tracking door movement during normal use and activating to arrest the fall if the primary mechanism fails.

With capacities from 150 kg to 1,500 kg and a shock-absorbing braking system, they offer a practical, cost-effective way to enhance safety without the need for full door replacement.

Because when it comes to safety, prevention isn’t always enough, you need protection when things go wrong.

GUARD Load Arrestor – What’s the Arrest Distance?

Q: What is the arrest distance for a GUARD Load Arrestor?
A: The arrest distance (minimum clearance) for all GUARD Load Arrest products is 1 metre (3.3 ft).

This 1 m clearance includes:
✔️ Freefall distance
✔️ Deceleration distance
✔️ Built-in safety factor

In simple terms, you need at least 1 metre of vertical clearance for the device to safely arrest a falling load.
Additional clearance should be provided where possible. Understanding clearance requirements is essential when designing or reviewing your lifting and height safety systems.

If you're unsure whether your setup provides adequate clearance, our team is always happy to help.
