Since August, LIFE proudly supported our client, United Infrastructure, in transforming the outdoor environment at Mab's Cross Primary School in Wigan, helping to create a dedicated wellbeing zone designed to support pupils' emotional, social, and physical wellbeing.
The completed scheme now provides pupils with an attractive outdoor learning, social and wellbeing environment while enhancing the school's facilities with improved seating, shelter, storage, lighting and cycle infrastructure.
Key Achievements
- Removal of existing shed, canopy, bicycle racks and astro turf.
- Design and construction of two bespoke planters with integrated seating.
- Installation of soil and refurbishment of both new and existing planters.
- Design and construction of a new gazebo with integrated seating.
- Relocation and reinstatement of the canopy.
- Construction of a new bicycle shelter and relocation of scooter racks.
- Repairs to astro turf surfaces.
- Installation of lighting, power sockets and associated cabling infrastructure.
- Addition of roof trim and drainage measures to improve weather protection.
= Clearance of wooded areas to support future landscaping works.
Serving a diverse and growing community, the school faces increasing demand for inclusive spaces that support children with SEND Charity, those experiencing anxiety or trauma, and families navigating significant life changes. The vision was to create a safe, welcoming outdoor environment where children can feel calm, connected, and ready to learn.
