Today we recognise Declan Allen as he takes on a new role as President, UK & Ireland for HORIBA.

Over the past decade, Declan has led HORIBA MIRA through a significant period of development as part of the HORIBA Group, strengthening our engineering and testing capabilities and supporting customers developing the next generation of mobility technologies, alongside the continued evolution of MIRA Tech Park as an inspiring, collaborative location for engineering and innovation.

Modern mobility platforms bring together electronics, communications and power systems in increasingly complex architectures. That complexity can introduce hidden risks, affecting performance, certification and delivery timelines.

Early, independent validation helps reduce uncertainty and keep programmes on track.

Our Introduction to Product Cybersecurity and the EU Cyber Resilience Act training course is designed to break down what the CRA actually means in practice, and how it impacts the full product lifecycle.

Across the day, we cover:
- The fundamentals of product cybersecurity, including key challenges, terminology, and the evolving threat landscape
- A clear overview of the EU Cyber Resilience Act and what it expects from organisations
- Practical areas like risk assessment, verification and validation, and vulnerability handling
- What needs to be communicated to users, and how reporting requirements fit in

It is aimed at product managers, engineers, and cybersecurity specialists working on products with digital elements destined for the EU market.

If you are trying to get ahead of the CRA and understand what good looks like, this is a useful place to start.

We recently welcomed over 80 organisations to HORIBA MIRA, bringing together businesses, universities, regional government, and the Ministry of Defence from across the Midlands.

The event, delivered with UK Defence Innovation, focused on the roadmap behind its £400m annual budget, with support from the new Regional Defence and Security Clusters in both the East and West Midlands. It was a great opportunity to bring together organisations already working within defence, alongside those looking to enter the supply chain. From SMEs to primes, the focus was on how we collaborate more effectively to respond to Ministry of Defence challenges.

HORIBA MIRA plays an important role in supporting the development of dual use technologies that span civilian and defence applications. This is underpinned by capabilities in simulation and validation, cyber resilience, electromagnetic compatibility, and hybrid power systems, as well as experience supporting the first autonomous vehicle deployed in conflict for mine clearance in Afghanistan.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the event a success.

Next generation mobility platforms bring new levels of complexity, and with that, new risks. From electronics and power systems to performance in extreme environments, every element needs to work together, reliably.

Our independent testing helps reduce programme risk and accelerate qualification. If you're looking for support with platform validation, speak to our defence specialists. Learn more: https://dub.sh/n1t2zgl
