🍂 IT’S THE AUTUMN EQUINOX!
Tomorrow marks the autumn equinox, and the colder, darker months aren’t far behind.
This is a good time to give your home a quick check before temperatures start to drop.
🪟 Check for draughts around windows
Feel around frames for cold air coming through, particularly around opening sections and seals.
🌧️ Check your guttering
Clear out leaves and debris, and look for cracks, loose joints or sections that aren’t draining properly. A quick check now can help prevent problems when the autumn rain really gets going.
🚪 Take a look at your doors
Check seals, locks and hinges, and look for any obvious gaps around the frame.
💧 Keep an eye out for condensation
As temperatures fall, condensation can become more noticeable. Regular ventilation can help reduce moisture building up inside your home.
🏠 Check your glazing
Look for condensation between the panes, damaged seals or other signs that your glazing may no longer be performing as it should.
🧱 Look for loose or damaged roof tiles
Check for any tiles that have slipped, cracked or gone missing. Sorting them before the wetter, windier weather arrives can help prevent leaks and further damage.
🔥 Think about heat before turning up the heating
Reducing draughts and keeping windows and doors in good condition can help your home retain heat more effectively.
A few simple checks now could make for a warmer, drier and more comfortable home when autumn really gets going. Need to repair or replace something? From guttering and roof tiles to windows and doors, get in touch, and we’ll do our best to help.
