MRW Jubilee Track is on the telly with Little British Rail!

For the interesting crossover of MRW followers and Big Brother fans, have we got a treat for you! Housemates must travel around the Big Brother house using the Big Brother train and successfully complete a series of tasks.

Our Jubilee Track was specifically chosen for its ability to be laid quickly, while the addition of points meant the route could be changed throughout the task.

The steam engine is actually a remote-controlled Phoenix Tug in disguise, so the whole event was very MRW based!

Well done to Peter and his team from www.littlebritishrail.co.uk for pulling off this impressive TV spectacle!

The 3 1/2" gauge passed its steam test today and we did some laps of the Midland railway with the Midland Loco at Barton House Railway

Thanks to both Peter and Dan for their assistance in witnessing and testing the loco.

The engine performed well but we suspect it is blowing by on one of the piston rings hence a full strip down is required before it starts regularly pulling passengers.

Which is better, 5" or 7¼" gauge? It's a question we get asked all the time... well, it's a matter of size!

Whether you enjoy a larger train or something more petite, we can provide track to suit. Pictured here are a set of 5" points next to a set of 7¼" points, showing the difference in scale.

The truth is, it's very much horses for courses. If you want a little railway to go around the garden, then 5" is a great choice. If you want to take passengers, especially on a portable railway, then 7¼" is generally preferred.

If you have the idea of going with a sit-in rather than a sit-on locomotive, then 7¼" is perfect. But if you have an idea of lifting trains in and out of the car boot on your own, then 5" is ideal!

At the end of the day, your choice is your decision. We can merely advise and recommend.
