A fantastic result for Rob and Margot running the Robin Hood Mini Marathon for Imara!

Following our recent post, we’re delighted to share that Rob, here at Yates Engineering and his daughter Margot, aged 7, raised an amazing £820 on Sunday 27th September. Margot and Rob joined over 80 other runners supporting Imara, with more than 500 children taking part in the Mini Marathon. It was a brilliant day, full of energy and community spirit!

Imara is a Nottinghamshire charity supporting children, young people and families to recover from sexual and domestic abuse. Every penny of the money raised, will go towards supporting children to move on from trauma and lead healthy, safe lives.

A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported them, including family, friends and the local communities of Gibsmere and Thurgarton. Every penny raised will help Imara support children and young people affected by sexual and domestic abuse, helping them recover from trauma and build safer, healthier futures.

🏃‍♂️ 🏃‍♀️ Our Rob & his Daughter are taking on the Robin Hood Mini Marathon! 💜

Hi everyone!

We’re Rob (38) and Margot (7), a daddy daughter duo from Nottinghamshire and we’ve decided to take on the Robin Hood Mini Marathon 2026, this coming weekend, to raise money for the wonderful charity Imara.

Imara supports children and young people who have experienced sexual and domestic abuse, helping them feel safe, supported and able to heal. They provide specialist support in so many different ways, including creative therapies such as art, dance, play and music, as well as helping children through the criminal justice process.

The Mini Marathon is a 1.5-mile (2.5km) fun run, so it’s perfect for little legs and first-time runners! Margot and I will have lots of fun running around the course together and we’d absolutely love to raise as much as we can for Imara along the way 🥰.

Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help Imara continue to support those who really need them. So, if you are in a position to be able to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful 🙏 and if you can’t, simply sharing this post would mean the world to us and help us reach more people.

SEPTEMBER NEWSLETTER - AI can Design it but can it Build it?

Welcome to our September newsletter! We hope you’ve all had a fantastic summer and managed to make the most of the tropical temperatures we’ve been enjoying this year! As we head into September, we thought we’d start with a topic that’s hard to escape at the moment - AI. It seems to be everywhere, and whether we like it or not, it’s likely to have an impact on almost every type of business. Engineering and manufacturing are no exception.

With AI developing at an incredible pace and the UK Government looking at how the technology could be put to practical use across advanced manufacturing, we started asking ourselves: what could AI actually mean for businesses like ours? Let us know in the comments what you think.

Hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend! Just like that we are into September! We thought we’d start the month with an update on our workshop extension and as you can see from the latest photo here, things are really starting to take shape.

The builders are on site, as we speak and are making brilliant progress, with the front blockwork wall now being constructed. The doors are due to be installed next week! The aim is to get the building weathertight and ready for the autumn weather, a great step forward in the project and will give us a much clearer idea of the finished space. It’s exciting to see the extension progressing from plans on paper.

Did you see the light show over Nottinghamshire last night?

The lightning was absolutely off the scale, spectacular to watch and with it came a serious deluge of rain, which of course, we all need. Thankfully, things are a little quieter on the weather front today!

While the skies have cleared, our engineers are busy out on site carrying out welding repairs for one of our valued regular customers - a national plant hire company.

Whether it’s a repair or maintenance work, our team is always kean to get stuck in and keep our customers’ equipment working safely and reliably.

JULY NEWSLETTER - Commemorating the 110th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

Welcome to our July newsletter!

This month Yates Engineering was pleased to support a very special project, led by Roger Merryweather of Southwell in Nottinghamshire, by manufacturing the plinth for a special Robin Hood statuette. This was to be presented to the Mayor of Foncquevillers, France, during this year's commemorations marking the 110th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of the Somme. The presentation provided a fitting and lasting tribute to the men of the 7th (Robin Hood) Battalion, Sherwood Foresters.

Happy Friday, everyone! ☀️

What a difference a few weeks make - the weather has certainly changed since David Yates of Yates Engineering, Steve Tooley, Stewart Marshall and Ben Craig completed their incredible Coast to Coast Tractor Run in support of Cancer Research UK!

We wanted to update you with the total amount that they raised for this fantastic cause. Thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, we raised a total of £4,083.25 - incredible!

Workshop Extention Update 😍

Things are moving fast! Our new workshop extension has come on incredibly quickly and so much progress has been made in such a short space of time. What was just a building site, in our last post, is now starting to look like a fully functioning workshop. There's still a little work to do but nearly there!

We're very grateful for everyone involved for their hard work and commitment in keeping the project moving!

We can't wait to share the finished result soon!
