APRIL NEWSLETTER - Coast-to-Coast Charity Tractor Challenge in aid of Cancer Research UK

https://mailchi.mp/0e9def30a8a3/april-newsletter-8343931

Four vintage tractors, five days, two coasts and plenty of determination - David Yates, from Yates Engineering and friends are preparing for another memorable charity adventure this June in support of Cancer Research UK.

David will be joined by Steve Tooley, Stewart Marshall and Ben Craig as they travel from Ravenglass to Robin Hood’s Bay on four vintage tractors - with three of them having no cabs!

The team will set off from Ravenglass on Monday 8th June and expect to arrive in Robin Hood’s Bay on Friday 12th June, covering the route over five days with overnight stops in Ambleside and Leyburn along the way.

These are the same vintage tractors David and Steve used during their previous charity adventure in 2008, when they completed the famous Land's End to John O' Groats ride, which took two weeks to complete.

If you would like to support the team and help raise money for this worthwhile cause, donations can be made via their JustGiving page:

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Papplewick Young Farmers to Yates Engineering for a session that brought engineering to life.

We split the group to give everyone a hand’s on, behind the scenes experience. One group heard our story first - the journey of Yates Engineering, how we’ve evolved over the years and the work we’re proud to deliver today. Meanwhile, the second group headed straight to the workshop, where Rob, Eric, and Kyle showed them around and gave them something even better than a tour - the chance to try welding for themselves!

After swapping over, every visitor left with a full picture of both our heritage and our day to day operations and hopefully, a new appreciation for the skill and craft behind engineering.

To round off the visit, each participant was given a model jeep they had seen created right in front of them, from plasma cutting 2mm sheet steel, to linishing and folding on our CNC press brake. A small piece of engineering to take away but a big reminder of what can be built from an idea! 💡

Congratulations to Jack, who took top spot for his welding effort on the day!

A huge thank you to Papplewick Young Farmers for bringing such enthusiasm and curiosity. It’s always a privilege to share what we do and hopefully inspire the next generation of engineers.

From Nervous Start to Personal Best: Our Helen Takes on the City of Lincoln 10K 🏃‍♀️

Great achievement from one of our team members at Yates Engineering! 👏

Helen completed her very first 10K race at the City of Lincoln 10K on Sunday, running alongside her partner Damian. Like many runners at their first event, attempting a distance fairly new to them, Helen arrived feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.

Once the race began though, the atmosphere combined with the support of the other runners and spectators, quickly turned those nerves into motivation and she pushed herself all the way to the finish - achieving her fastest ever 10K time in her debut event 🎉

At Yates Engineering, we’re proud to support our team in their personal achievements as well as their professional ones. We look forward to seeing what challenge Helen takes on next.

Thinking of taking on your own challenge this year? or were you also at Sunday’s City of Lincoln 10k? We’d love to hear about it and see your pictures in the comments!

At Yates Engineering, we take pride in turning complex requirements into practical solutions.

This latest prototype, developed alongside one of our regular customers, is a bespoke mounting bracket designed to integrate an AI-powered forklift control system.

A great example of how collaborative working and in-house fabrication expertise can support the integration of advanced technologies into real world applications.

If you're looking for tailored fabrication solutions that incorporate the latest technology, we’d love to talk. Please contact Rob on 01636 830628 or by emailing [email protected].

FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER - Bespoke Fabrication & UKCA / ISO 9001 Audit Success

https://lnkd.in/egNC9Hyi

A strong start to 2026!...

We kicked off 2026 at Yates Engineering by welcoming Kirsty back to our Accounts Department after maternity leave. There was no easing back in though as her very first week back aligned with our annual UKCA and ISO 9001 audit, which we passed with flying colours!

Passing our UKCA and ISO 9001 audit reinforces the quality standards behind everything we do, particularly as demand grows for bespoke metal fabrication across multiple sectors.

Why Bespoke Metal Fabrication is in Demand...

Demand for “bespoke metal fabrication” continues to rise, reflecting the increasing complexity and specificity of projects across construction, energy, manufacturing and machinery sectors. Off the shelf solutions rarely meet the demands of modern commercial and industrial applications, where precision, durability and compliance are essential.

At Yates Engineering, bespoke fabrication is not simply about manufacturing to a drawing, it’s about understanding the operational and structural demands behind each project. Working from detailed CAD files or collaborating at design stage, our team combines engineering expertise with practical fabrication capability to deliver robust, fit for purpose solutions for commercial and industrial applications.

Our structured quality control processes - reinforced by our UKCA and ISO 9001 certification - provide confidence that every bespoke component meets specification, compliance requirements and project timelines.

We offer competitive pricing and a consistent service.

We cover Newark, Lincoln, Nottinghamshire, the East Midlands and beyond. If you would like to discuss your steel fabrication requirements, please get in touch with Rob on

Just before Christmas, we had the privilege of partnering with Linde Material Handling UK.

Our team of engineers were truly uplifted as they carried out modifications on 41 pallet trucks, ensuring their fleet is prepared for the busy months ahead.

Thank you to Linde UK for trusting us with this project. We're proud to support their ongoing success.

Happy New Year from all of us at Yates Engineering!

We hope you had a lovely Christmas break. We are all back in the office and workshop this week and while parts of the UK are facing high winds, snow and ice this week, we're grateful to have escaped the worst of it in our corner of Nottinghamshire, so far!

We are starting the New Year with a bit of excitement – welcoming a new truck to our fleet! You can see it looking right at home here, alongside our other vehicles outside the workshop this morning 🤩.

We look forward to working with you again this year. Here's to a great 2026!

On Friday, it was our annual Christmas get together at The Red Lion in Thurgarton 🎉. It was lovely to catch up and take some team photos. We enjoyed turkey and stuffing cobs with chips, along with a few drinks to get us feeling festive 🎄 .

The evening was a bit of a learning curve for some of us – we were introduced to a drinking game called ‘Splitting the G’ – thought to have originated as a traditional pub game in Ireland 🍻! Those playing, attempt to take a single, precise gulp of a pint of Guinness so that when the glass is placed back down on the table, the surface of the dark stout liquid perfectly aligns with the horizontal bar in the middle of the ‘G’ in the Guinness logo printed on the glass. Our Engineers had clearly had some practice 😉 , as the first demonstration was pretty much spot on 🏅 !

As we wrap up another year, we reflect on the achievements we’ve reached in 2025, alongside our wonderful customers. We really appreciate your ongoing support and trust. The team here at Yates Engineering would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We will be closing today and reopening on Monday 5th January 2026 - we look forward to working with you all again next year 😊
