A closer look at what’s been on the bench at Belvoir Rail.
We’ve recently had five Thermo 300 burner heads in from GWR for refurbishment.
The condition of the burner head plays an important part in how reliably the heater starts, how cleanly it burns and whether it delivers the heat output required.
And refurbishment is more than simply cleaning everything up.
It gives us the opportunity to strip the assembly down, inspect the combustion components and identify wear or deterioration that needs attention before rebuilding and testing it.
For an ageing fleet, that can make a real difference. Where the wider heater remains serviceable, refurbishing the burner head can help extend its useful life and avoid replacing a complete unit unnecessarily.
For these five, that means a new lease of life before they head back to GWR and return to service.
