🔥 Another seriously special engine on the dyno 🔥

The Peter Baldwin Tribute Special Saloon was back with us last week as the next chapter of this incredible build comes together. Following our machining work, the engine was expertly reassembled by Cooper's Garage Ltd of Mildenhall, before returning for dyno testing, running-in and initial setup.

After a successful run-in session, the engine is now dialled in and ready for installation back into the car, where the final fine adjustments will be completed on the rolling road in situ.

The sound, the engineering, the attention to detail… this one is seriously special. 👌🏁

Huge congratulations to Andrew from all of us at Damico Engines Ltd👏

We’re proud to announce that Andrew has officially achieved both Certified Cylinder Head Machinist and Certified Engine Machinist status through the AERA Engine Builders Association in partnership with the Federation of Engine Re-Manufacturers.
These certifications, alongside his Engineering Apprenticeship at West Suffolk College in 2010 and years of hands-on experience under the guidance of Darren at Damico, are a testament to Andrew’s precision, dedication and commitment to excellence in engine machining.

His achievement reflects the high standards we uphold every day at Damico and we couldn’t be prouder.

Well done, Andrew and thank you to FER and AERA for supporting excellence within the industry.

Update: We’ve had loads of interest in this post, so we caught up with Nick and gathered some more info. The photo has now been updated with names, there are still a few missing, so if you recognise anyone, let us know and we’ll update it.

A proper full-circle moment on the dyno this week 🔄🔥
We’ve had something seriously special in at Damico Engines Ltd… this incredible Toyota 3SGE, built to win and packed with history.
Originally developed by Tom’s Toyota, based just down the road in Hingham, Norfolk, this very engine would once have been run in our dyno cell, that’s right, our dyno cell was once the property of Tom’s Toyota back in their hay day. Fast forward to today, and it’s back exactly where it belongs. Even better! It’s been expertly rebuilt by Nick Jordan, who was part of the original Tom’s Toyota Team. Seeing him reunited with this engine again makes this moment even more meaningful.

This isn’t just any 3SGE:
• Formula 3 with a 25mm air restrictor
• Kugelfischer mechanical injection system
• Mechanical Bosch injectors
• Omega pistons
• 12.5:1 compression ratio
• Still producing just over 160BHP

We’ve also dug out some brilliant throwback shots of Nick and the Tom’s Toyota team, along with the cars these engines powered in their prime, proper nostalgia for those who remember.
Moments like this are what it’s all about, engineering history, kept alive.

Flagging this up once again as it seems a perrenial point of discussion. Plug colour with current fuel types. Pump available E5, this is perfect. Fresh out of the engine just dynoed at Damico Engines to carry out post testing compresdion and leak down tests (very thorough). My dyno of choice for the past 18 years I think, despite being 221 miles and a minimum 4 hour drive away.
