A message from the management......

If your in the Humber or Cheshire area and looking for your next role working with a technology led company, and a can do company, and have an interest in either Business or Engineering keep a look out on our web;

Due to continued growth, we have new roles coming through in the area of Business, to Design and Engineering.

Engineering roles:
Civil / Structural Engineer with 10+ years post university experience, based in Humberside, ideally Chartered, with experience of both Green and Brownfield. Ideally has experience of both RC and Steel design.
Piping Designer with 10+ years of experience, ideally with an Apprentice or Hands on background, with experience of COMAH sites working on a large range of systems.

Cheshire:
Business Role
This is not a fully defined role, but we will be looking for someone who is wanting to grow in a business, who may have some business experience even as an Administrator, and have relevant qualifications. They may come from a prior engineering role but want to move into the business side, or have recently gained an MBA or similar.

Great new for DOCAN and one of its clients!!
We've been working with one of our clients in the Industry for the last year.
They develop connection technology which is used by all the major auto manufacturers around the globe. Their connection tech is driven by robots, and the technology sustains many thousands of load cycles.
As a value engineering project, the client wanted to optimise the structures which connect the robot and the connection technology - and could never achieve a sufficient fatigue life. Through testing, the structures would fail too early. DOCAN were asked to complete an optioneering study, develop new designs, short list new candidate designs, and develop working designs considering , , , and of course with a sufficient fatigue life.
Our output was and final , with all sufficient GD&T, Surface Finish, Materials Selection and Finish, etc, such that the drawings could go to the supply chain for manufacture.
As part of the process, we also completed a full / assessment, as well as and tolerance ( ).
We used one of the top solid modelling platforms for the design and drawing development, and & for the and the analysis.
- our final design which went to manufacture and fatigue testing not only passed the fatigue test, it exceeded the test. This showed our optimised solution was sufficiently strong, stiff and tolerant of damage and had further margin to give high fatigue confidence limits.
Image 1 - shows the strength distribution and load distribution through time as damage develops in the fatigue test (or normal usage). The aim is to minimise or avoid crossing paths to increase reliability and fatigue confidence limits.

Image 2 - shows FESafe fatigue cycle repeats at a stress concentrating location which would likely be a failure zone through cracking.

Our Blue Chip client had never achieved this success before - for them, they can now proceed to the next step of the value engineering process and offer significantly more value to their clients!
