Exposing a water main without disturbing what’s around it.

Our vacuum excavation crew was recently on the ground in Motherwell, carefully exposing a water main alongside surrounding underground utilities.

Using vacuum excavation, spoil was removed using suction rather than relying on traditional mechanical digging - giving the team greater control as they worked around existing infrastructure.

When you don't have the luxury of knowing exactly what's beneath the surface, controlled excavation matters.

They might have the certificate, but before a Pier operator gets behind the wheel on site, there’s still plenty to learn.

This week, our newest operators have been getting hands-on with the vac-ex equipment here at the yard.

It’s a chance to build confidence, understand the machines and get practical experience in a controlled environment before putting that knowledge to work on site.

It’s one of those things you might not see when you hire a vacuum excavator but it’s part of what sits behind every job we do.

New truck.

Soft, uneven, or difficult terrain can make access a challenge for a standard vacuum excavation truck.

On a recent job, large amounts of spoil needed to be excavated, but the ground conditions meant a different approach was needed. We deployed our Tracked Vac.

Making space for what comes next…

As part of works for a new cycle route, our team was brought in to relocate existing fibre infrastructure ahead of the next stage of construction.

When new infrastructure is being introduced, the existing services around it can’t simply be moved out of the way. They need to be located, exposed and worked around carefully to avoid unnecessary disruption.

Our team was able to safely expose the existing fibre services, giving the project team a clearer view of what was underground and allowing the relocation works to progress with greater confidence.

It’s a relatively small part of a much bigger infrastructure project, but getting these details right early on can make a big difference to what happens further down the line.
