Miles in May update...

We are almost half way through the month of May and many of our colleagues are increasing their steps as they try to cover 160 miles during the month. Doing this not only for their own physical & mental health but to help raise money for the Mental Health Foundation

If you would like to support our colleagues and the charity you can donate at our Just Giving page here:
https://www.justgiving.com/page/environmental-essentials-9?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL&utm_campaign=lc_frp_share_transaction_fundraiser_page_donation_received_-_nth_donation

Did you know May is both Mental Health Awareness Month and National Walking Month?

It’s the perfect time to highlight how getting those steps in helps our bodies and our minds.

To celebrate, some of our amazing colleagues are taking on a huge challenge: walking or running 159 miles this month! That’s the same as traveling from Silverdale all the way to Gateshead.

They’re doing it to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation, so stay tuned for updates on their progress.

Thanks to all who participate or donate to support each other and the charity.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a significant crackdown on the dangers of engineered stone dust!

Specifically targeting the prevention of silicosis—a fatal yet entirely avoidable lung disease. Our Asbestos and Air Hygiene teams can help ensure you are compliant!

Contact us on-0345 456 9953

Key Changes to HSE Enforcement

The new mandate is clear: dry cutting is no longer acceptable. Businesses are now legally required to use water suppression techniques to control silica dust.

How We Can Help You Stay Compliant-
Navigating these heightened safety standards can be complex, but you don’t have to do it alone. Our team provides the expertise and tools necessary to protect your workforce and your business:

Real-Time Dust Monitoring: We provide advanced monitoring solutions to measure levels of respirable crystalline silica (RCS), ensuring your suppression systems are working effectively.

Compliance Audits: Our specialists can review your current fabrication processes to identify risks before an HSE inspector arrives at your door.

Guidance on Transitions: We assist businesses in moving from dry fabrication to wet methods.

Ongoing Safety Reporting: We provide the documentation and data you need to prove your business meets—and exceeds—legal requirements.

The HSE is acting decisively, and the first inspections are already underway. Don’t wait for a visit to find out if your controls are sufficient.

Ensure your team is protected and your operations are compliant.

Get in touch today at:
https://environmentalessentials.co.uk/contacts/

To ensure these standards are met, the HSE has initiated a nationwide inspection programme, with over 1,000 site visits scheduled across Great Britain over the next 12 months.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026...

It is incredibly important to remember that mental health isn't just the absence of illness; it's the presence of resilience and community.

Taking action—no matter how small—creates a "ripple effect" that can shift the culture from one of silence to one of support.

Supporting the Mental Health Foundation's awareness week by doing our 'Miles for May' event ( mentioned in a previous post). Why not visit their website for ideas on how to support your mental health.

Small Actions, Big Impact

Individual habits are the building blocks of mental clarity. You don't need a total lifestyle overhaul to see a difference you could try some of these:

The "Five-Minute" Rule: Dedicate just five minutes to mindful breathing or a short walk. It resets the nervous system.

Check-in on yours Peers/ family: Sometimes, the most powerful action is a simple text: "I've been thinking about you, how are you really doing?"

Digital Boundaries: Set a "sunset" time for your devices and put your phone away when your interacting with others to give your mind a rest.
