The first ever “shredders” weren’t built for gardens at all. 🌾

Back in the 1800s, German inventor Peter Jensen developed early wood chipping machinery to process timber and plant waste more efficiently. Loud. Heavy. Slightly terrifying looking.

Fast forward a couple of centuries and the principle’s still the same:
feed in the mess, make life easier.

Only now they’re a bit more refined… and a lot better at dealing with hedge cuttings. 👀🌿

Throwback to 2024 when we celebrated 50 years in business the only way we know how… by making a serious investment in new machinery. 💪

28 brand new Kubota mini excavators joined the fleet in 12 months, including seven KX016-4s and our first ever U27-4s - with the biggest cab in their class and built for everything from utilities and building work to farms and DIY jobs. 🚜

🚜 Flashback Friday! 🚜

We’re taking it all the way back to 1994 with this brilliant throwback of a very young Ian Peggie – now the manager of our Kirkcaldy depot! 👷‍♂️

From then to now, Ian has been a huge part of the Martin Plant Hire journey – and it’s safe to say a lot has changed since the 90s (including the hairstyles 😉).
