Our Brian Currie DAF electric tractor unit is out on the road with Thermo King Europe ’s innovative AxlePower trailer, demonstrating what a fully electric solution can look like for temperature-controlled transport.

The DAF tractor unit provides fully electric driving, while Thermo King’s axle-powered trailer uses energy generated from the road to power its refrigeration system and maintain temperature. Together, the combination delivers zero-emission operation with reduced noise.

But electrifying the cold chain is about more than the vehicle alone. Through our partnership with Thermo King, .on and Flexible Power Solutions, we can bring together the DAF electric tractor unit, refrigeration technology, charging infrastructure and energy management as one complete solution.

🏆 Congratulations to Jayden Fossett on an incredible 2nd place finish in the 2026 IMI Heavy Vehicle Technology Competition!

This year marked the first IMI Skills Competition, with 200 apprentices taking part. Reaching the finals is an outstanding achievement in itself, making Jayden’s podium finish even more impressive.

Having qualified earlier this year and now becoming a fully fledged technician, to follow this achievement is a fantastic accomplishment. 👏

All three podium places were taken by DAF Trucks UK, with Monty Gambrell of Motus Commercials taking 1st place and Theo Lanham of Adams Morey Ltd finishing 3rd.
