Going From Strength to Strength at Tribotics

Growing Our In-House Capabilities at Tribotics Ltd

At Tribotics, we’ve always believed that real quality comes from taking ownership of the process.

As the business continues to grow, we’ve been steadily investing in expanding what we can do in-house. Over the past year in particular, we’ve brought more of our manufacturing processes under our own roof — giving us better control over quality, lead times, and ultimately the finished product our customers receive.

Fabrication and Welding

We now carry out the majority of our fabrication and welding within our own facility. With a coded welder as part of our team, we are able to manufacture most of the fabricated components used within our metal detection systems ourselves.

This gives us the flexibility to adapt quickly to site-specific requirements and evolving project demands.

There will always be certain specialist items that are better suited to external suppliers, but by handling most of this work internally, we have far greater control over quality and scheduling. It also means we can react quickly when projects require adjustments or bespoke solutions.

For us, it’s not just about making parts — it’s about ensuring they are built correctly, consistently, and to a standard we are proud to put our name to.

In-House Painting

Alongside fabrication, we’ve introduced in-house painting. This might seem like a small step, but it makes a big difference.

By controlling the finishing process ourselves, we ensure every fabricated component is properly protected and finished to the standard we expect before it leaves our facility. It also helps streamline production, as parts no longer need to leave site and wait in external queues before coming back for assembly.

Combined with our welding capability, this allows us to take many components from raw material right through to finished assembly without them ever leaving our control.

Custom Shipping Crates

Another recent development is the manufacture of our own custom shipping crates.

Our metal detection systems are designed to operate in demanding environments, and they deserve the same level of care during transport. By building custom crates in-house, we can ensure each system is properly supported and protected for shipping.

Every crate is designed specifically for the system it carries, reducing the risk of damage and ensuring equipment arrives on site ready for installation.

It’s another example of how we’re looking at the entire process, not just manufacturing the product, but making sure it reaches the customer safely and securely.

Continued 3D Printing and Control Panel Build

We continue to design and produce 3D printed components in-house, which allows us to prototype quickly and manufacture bespoke parts efficiently. It’s a key part of how we develop and refine new ideas.

All of our control panels are also built in-house. Our electrical and software teams work closely together to ensure every system is assembled, wired, tested and validated to meet the required standards before it leaves us.

Investing in the Team

Growth isn’t just about equipment — it’s about people.

As Tribotics continues to go from strength to strength, we’ve taken on additional staff across fabrication, electrical assembly, engineering and project management. Strengthening the team allows us to meet increasing demand without compromising the standards we’ve built our reputation on.

Bringing more processes under our own roof gives us better oversight, faster turnaround times and tighter quality control. Most importantly, it allows us to stand fully behind every product that leaves our facility.

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but we’re even more focused on where we’re going. Continued investment in people, equipment and capability keeps Tribotics agile, reliable and ready for the challenges ahead.

By expanding our team, knowledge stays within the business, collaboration between departments becomes stronger, and we have the capacity to support larger and more complex projects.

Tribotics Oversees Installation of Titan — Our First Metal Detection System in North America

Titan’s Arrival

Following the successful design, build, and delivery of our flagship Titan metal detection system to North America, Tribotics reached another major milestone by overseeing its installation at our customer’s brand-new facility in the United States.

As this marked the first Titan system to be installed in North America, we were committed to ensuring every stage of the process was executed with the highest level of care and precision. One of our highly experienced engineers travelled across the Atlantic to personally oversee the uncrating of the system upon arrival. After its transatlantic journey, all components arrived safely and in excellent condition, having been expertly protected within custom-designed shipping crates built specifically for this project.

Unpacking

The uncrating process was a significant moment for both Tribotics and our customer, as it represented Titan’s first full reveal on American soil. Each component was carefully inspected before being moved into position, confirming that nothing had been compromised during transit.

Once unpacked, the Titan system was assembled on site by our engineer in close collaboration with the customer’s installation team. The system was then mounted onto its bespoke, custom-engineered framework. This purpose-built structure allows Titan to integrate seamlessly into the customer’s existing material handling infrastructure, ensuring smooth operation, efficient workflow compatibility, and optimal performance within the production environment.

Waste Carts Assembly

As part of the installation package, the three waste carts supplied with the Titan system were shipped in a flat-packed configuration to maximise space efficiency and reduce shipping volume. Upon arrival, these carts were assembled on site by our engineer and subjected to a series of functional checks to ensure they met our high-quality standards and operated as intended.

Looking Forward

This stage of the project represents a key step toward bringing Titan fully into service, but it is not the final phase. Our engineers will return to site in the coming months to complete the full commissioning of the system. During this process, Titan will be thoroughly tested under real operating conditions to verify that it meets all specified performance and safety requirements.

Once commissioned, the Titan metal detection system will play a vital role in the customer’s processing operations, helping to protect equipment, maintain product quality, and minimise the risk of costly contamination events. We are proud to have supported our customer throughout this project and are confident that Titan will deliver many years of reliable, trouble-free service.

We look forward to sharing further updates as the project progresses and Titan becomes fully operational.

Tribotics Ltd Continuing to Expand Our In-House 3D Printing Capability

Additional Printers

As part of our ongoing investment in innovation and in-house manufacturing, we’re pleased to announce that Tribotics has expanded our 3D printing capability even further with the addition of three Bambu Lab H2S 3D printers. Two of these new machines are equipped with the AMS 2 Pro system, and the third features the AMS HT, giving us even greater flexibility and efficiency in how we produce parts and prototypes.

A New Dedicated 3D Printing Lab

Due to the rapid growth of our 3D printing operations, we’ve moved the printers into a larger, dedicated room to accommodate the expanding setup. This new 3D printing lab has been designed to improve organisation, workflow, and efficiency. Alongside our fleet of 3D printers, the room also houses our laser printer and several pieces of specialised equipment for precision work.

The space also includes dedicated areas for testing prototypes, assembling 3D-printed builds, and evaluating new materials and designs. This setup enables our team to move seamlessly from design to testing, supporting faster development cycles and higher quality results.

Advanced Material Handling with AMS Technology

The AMS 2 Pro units allow for automatic multi-material and multi-colour printing, with the added benefit of precise humidity control to ensure material consistency and strength. This makes it ideal for printing parts that require both functional strength and aesthetic quality.

Meanwhile, the AMS HT system offers advanced high-temperature filament handling, enabling us to print with engineering-grade materials that can withstand more demanding industrial environments. This capability opens the door to producing stronger, more durable components for long-term use within our systems and equipment.

Bringing Production In-House

With these additions, we’re continuing our focus on bringing more of our production in-house. By manufacturing an increasing number of parts ourselves, we gain full control over quality, consistency, and production times. This in turn allows us to respond quickly to project demands, reduce lead times, and deliver custom-engineered solutions more efficiently.

Our 3D printers are already being used to produce a variety of components for our Metal Detector Conveyor builds and many other ongoing projects. The flexibility of in-house 3D printing enables us to design, test, and refine parts rapidly, an approach that enhances both our innovation and reliability.

Tribotics Ltd In-House 3D Printing Goes from Strength to Strength.

Expanding Our In-House 3D Printing Capabilities

At Tribotics Ltd, continuous improvement is at the heart of our manufacturing process and our latest investment reflects that. We’ve recently welcomed the Bambu Lab P1S with AMS into our in-house 3D printing line-up, joining our existing Creatbot D600 Pro.

With a build volume of 256 x 256 x 256mm, the Bambu Lab P1S is perfect for smaller parts and rapid prototyping, while the larger Creatbot continues to handle bigger, more demanding builds. This dual-machine approach means our engineers can run production and prototype work in parallel, avoiding bottlenecks and ensuring projects keep moving at full speed. Each printer brings its own strengths, giving us the flexibility to match the right machine to the task at hand.

3D Printing in Action: From Concept to Integration

One of our recent projects involved building a shipping container housing two Virtual Reality PODs. A key feature was an airflow system designed to simulate the feeling of soaring through the sky. To achieve this, we designed and printed custom vent units in-house.

This approach gave us far more control over both the look and functionality of the parts, resulting in a cleaner design and better performance than any off-the-shelf alternative.

The final blog post of the shipping container Virtual Reality PODs can be viewed here - www.tribotics.co.uk/blog/bringing-a-unique-virtual-adventure-to-gdansktribo

Custom Components Made to Fit

Another recent project saw us creating specialised component holders for a new client’s equipment. By designing and 3D printing the holders in-house, we could achieve a perfect fit for the application. Something that would have been impossible with pre-made parts.

The benefits were immediate as we went from concept and design, to prototype, to finished product in just hours rather than days or weeks, all while reducing manufacturing costs.

Reverse Engineering Coral for a Marine Display

Not all of our projects are industrial and sometimes, they’re a little more creative. One of our valued clients, a keen marine enthusiast, wanted custom coral pieces for an aquarium. Aquascaping, the art of arranging aquatic plants, rock, and decorative features was an important part of the brief, with the goal of creating a realistic underwater scene that would still be easy to maintain.

Our engineering team scanned older coral fragments, reverse engineered the shapes and enhanced them with new design elements for a more visually pleasing arrangement. The pieces were printed in PETG, which is aquarium-safe and offers a natural look that store-bought decorations often can’t match.

The result? A stunning, lifelike aquascape that balances beauty with practicality, ensuring the display is just as functional to maintain as it is captivating to look at.

Our in-house 3D printing

From industrial components to custom decorative pieces, our in-house 3D printing continues to open new possibilities. With faster turnaround times, precision engineering, and complete design flexibility, we’re ready to take on projects of all shapes and sizes.
