BS EN 1090.. Why does it actually matter?

When it comes to structural steel, BS EN 1090 isn’t optional. It’s a legal requirement.

Any steel that forms part of a load bearing structure must be manufactured under BS EN 1090 certification and carry CE / UKCA marking.

Unfortunately, some fabricators still ignore it to save time or money.

The problem?
When the building inspector, structural engineer, or insurer asks for certification years later, that shortcut can bite you in the arse.
