Did anyone spot the ArgoCat on BBC Countryfile?

Great to see a machine we’ve recently serviced featured on the programme, highlighting the devastating impact of fires on the Yorkshire Moors.

We’re proud to play our small part in keeping vital machinery running, supporting the RSPB and the incredible firefighters working hard to protect our moorlands.

It’s great to know the work we do behind the scenes is helping to make a difference.

THIS IS WHAT GOES INTO A PROPER HEDGE CUTTER SERVICE!

When you’re using hedge cutters commercially, they need to work hard, day in, day out. That’s why a quality service is about much more than just changing a spark plug and giving the machine a quick clean!

✅ Stripping the machine down properly
✅ Inspecting internal components for wear and damage
✅ Thorough cleaning of key components
✅ Checking the cutting blades and drive mechanism
✅ Making sure everything is in good working order

For professional contractors, reliability is everything!

A properly maintained hedge cutter means better performance, less downtime and a longer working life for your equipment.

It’s the work you don’t always see that makes the difference between a quick service and a quality service.

Professional machines deserve professional maintenance!

Two Grillos heading out today to two different customers.

The Grillo Climber 7.18 is built for tougher cutting jobs, making light work of long grass, rough areas and more demanding ground where a standard ride-on can struggle.

Two capable machines heading off ready to get stuck into some serious work.

Thank you very much to both customers for your custom. It’s greatly appreciated.

Triplets in today.

Three STIGA ride-ons, all in for cutter timing belt repairs, and all being done together to keep the workshop running efficiently and get the jobs turned around smoothly.

Nice to have three similar repairs lined up at once and keep everything moving.

Another ride-on mower given a new lease of life.

This machine came in fitted with its original Chinese engine, which had developed a fault with the breather system. The PGV had stuck and therefore it wasn’t venting properly, pressure built up, it blew a gasket and eventually seized itself solid.

After discussing the options with the customer, we decided rather than spending money trying to revive the old engine, we’d upgrade it properly.

In went a more powerful Kawasaki engine.

Kawasaki have been building engines for decades, and there’s a reason they’ve earned such a strong reputation. Smooth power delivery, proven reliability, quality engineering and, let’s be honest, they sound a lot better too.

A worthwhile upgrade that should keep this mower working hard for years to come.

Sometimes repairing the old engine isn’t the best answer. Sometimes it makes more sense to fit something better.

A proper job in the workshop today.

This Solis S26, fitted with a loader and flail mower, came in for a thorough service, and we went right through it properly.

All filters replaced, all oils changed, every grease point attended to, fluid levels checked, and the machine inspected from front to back. While it was with us, we also repaired the gearbox after finding a seized four-wheel-drive input shaft.

That’s the sort of work we take real pride in at SGP Garden Machinery Ltd. Not just changing a filter and sending a machine back out, but understanding it, finding the faults and putting them right properly.

There’s a lot of skill in this trade, and we think it’s important that those skills are kept alive. Proper mechanical knowledge, proper servicing and proper workmanship still matter.

Another machine leaving the workshop ready to get back to work.
