Here’s a behind-the-scenes look inside our concrete block manufacturing plant in Silloth.

From the production process through to the finished products, this is where our extensive range of concrete blocks is manufactured.

The plant produces a variety of concrete block products for different construction requirements, with the manufacturing process taking place on site from the initial production stages through to the finished blocks ready to leave the plant.

A look inside our head office in Flimby, Maryport.

Thomas Armstrong Group has been based at our Flimby headquarters since 1986, following the Group’s move here as part of its continued expansion.

The site is home to teams from across the Thomas Armstrong Group, with our head office sitting alongside the workshops, yard and manufacturing facilities that support the wider business.

While much of what we do takes place out on sites across the region, a lot of the planning, preparation and day-to-day work starts here.

Foamed glass recycled lightweight aggregate provides a lightweight solution for infrastructure construction, including roads, rail, and bridges.

Around 85% lighter than traditional aggregate, it can reduce the load on underlying soil and existing structures. It can also be used for road embankments, excavated pipe trenches, retaining walls, and backfills.

Made from recycled glass, foamed glass aggregate also supports more sustainable construction by diverting glass from landfill.

There’s been plenty going on in the Thomas Armstrong Timber workshop.

The team have been busy manufacturing timber products to customer requirements, with the workshop supporting the production of pallets, packing cases and other timber products.

From cutting and preparing timber through to the finished product, our workshop is where much of the work takes place before products are ready to leave site.

Did you know that one of Thomas Armstrong’s concrete block manufacturing plants operates from an old aircraft hangar in Silloth? 🛫

The hangars date from 1939 and were active during the Second World War as part of Silloth Airfield.

The site was acquired in 1997, when Thomas Armstrong acquired Coulthard Concrete Products (1980) Limited. Today, the Silloth plant manufactures an extensive range of concrete block products for the construction industry.

Nearly 30 years on, the Silloth plant continues to be an important part of Thomas Armstrong’s concrete block manufacturing operations.

The doors are officially opening for the first time at Washington Homes’ brand new Show Home at Wildridge Drive, Moor Row, on Saturday 17th October.

Come and join us to take a look around The Bluebell, a four-bedroom detached home with an integrated garage, and get a feel for life at Wildridge Drive, from the layout and finishes to the homes being built across the development.
