Supporting Georgia's Rugby World Cup Journey ๐Ÿ‰

As preparations accelerate for the Rugby Under-20 World Cup in June 2026, our team on the ground in Georgia continues to deliver. Works are progressing as the nation readies itself to host one of rugby's most exciting tournaments on the world stage.

Our presence in Georgia goes back to 2022, when we established a dedicated local office and team to serve the growing demand for sports infrastructure across the region. Since then, our team have delivered natural and hybrid grass surfaces across stadiums, training grounds, municipal facilities and major tournaments, including the ECPR Rugby Championship and the UEFA Under-21 European Championships.

This Rugby World Cup is another landmark moment, and we are honoured to play our part in delivering surfaces that will perform at the highest level throughout the tournament. Our team are responsible for the returf and hybrid stitching of five pitches for the tournament.

We would like to thank the Municipal Development Fund of Georgia, Director Giorgi Shonia and Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze for their time during our recent progress meeting and their trust in SIS Pitches to deliver for such an important project.

2026 FIFA World Cup โณ

Across the last two World Cups, SIS Pitches contributed to more than 50 pitches - from tournament stadiums to the training grounds where players prepared for the world stage. We've supported projects across a range of phases, including design, construction, installation and maintenance.

This year we're contributing once again. Our teams have been working hard and are currently on the ground in the USA, Canada and Mexico, providing our field technology ahead of the tournament this summer.

It's been a pleasure working alongside dedicated groundskeeping teams - tackling challenging conditions and schedules in complex multi-use venues, all while keeping the highest standards for the world stage.

Bio-Xโ„ข Fiber - From Testing to Real-World Installations

Over 80 formulations. Seven countries. Rigorous independent testing. That is the foundation Bio-Xโ„ข was built on.

Our 100% biodegradable hybrid fiber has been validated by Sports Labs, STRI, and our own R&D centre, and is already installed and being tested in a live environment at the San Francisco 49ers training facility and Strawberry Arena.

In the next few months, a Bio-Xโ„ข Fiber field will be installed at Larchmont Manor Park in New York, alongside a further installation within Central Park, New York, for a globally recognised sporting brand. Last week we brought industry professionals together at MetLife Stadium to see the hybrid grass installation ahead of the World Cup Final, offering a behind-the-scenes look at preparations for one of the worldโ€™s biggest sporting events.

Alongside the live hybrid grass demonstration, guests took part in an insightful panel discussion with leading sports surface experts, alongside wider conversations throughout the day on the future of elite playing surfaces and performance standards.

Another key milestone reached as our team wraps up hybrid grass installation at one of the host venues for the U20 Women's World Cup Poland 2026.

Following our returf last month, the surface has now been reinforced with SIS GRASS Hybrid, stitching synthetic fibres into the natural grass to deliver the durability required for tournament football at the highest level.

With many matches scheduled at the stadium during the tournament, the surface has the resilience to perform under repeated, intensive use, delivered by hybrid grass stitching.

๐ŸŸฃ The process begins with renewable raw materials derived from corn plant sugars, sugarcane plant sugars, and bacteria.

๐ŸŸฃ These inputs are converted into high-performance biopolymers engineered to deliver properties comparable to conventional synthetic fibers.

๐ŸŸฃ A specialist biodegradable masterbatch is then introduced to support UV stability, climate adaptation, anti-static performance and pigmentation.
