This is what the iconic Oasis in Swindon looks like today.
Empty.
Deteriorating.
Stuck.
Everyone says they want it saved — and that’s completely understandable.
But here’s the reality…
Refusing development might feel like protecting it — but it could be the very thing stopping it from ever reopening.
Projects like this don’t get restored on nostalgia.
They need funding.
They need viability.
And that usually means development around them to make the numbers work.
So what’s more important — preserving it in its current state…
Or allowing the kind of development that could actually bring it back to life?
