Great to see Vortex Fabrications featured in the latest issue of MEM Magazine.
A lot has changed for us over the last few years- from the scale of the projects we’re taking on to the workshop and capabilities we now have in place.
It’s good to see some of that progress outside of our own channels.

A small batch of stainless assemblies completed and ready for dispatch.

We support a wide range of work, from individual fabricated components and repeat batches through to larger assemblies and turnkey projects.

Regardless of the size of the job, the same focus applies- quality, consistency and getting the details right.

A little bit of 3D printing helping out with the fabrication

This stainless pipe assembly has several bends and tight positional tolerances, so we designed and printed a set of locating jigs in-house to hold everything exactly where it needs to be during fit-up.

The jigs bolt straight onto the welding table, giving us a repeatable setup and reducing the amount of measuring and adjustment needed between stages.

A small bit of tooling that makes a big difference to the finished job.

Small batch of 4 stainless exhaust manifolds finished, QC checked, carefully packed and ready for dispatch.

A lot of work goes into getting repeat fabrication right and making sure every part leaves us exactly as it should.

Not normally one for these kinds of posts, but seeing the Vortex sign go up on our new building at Eckland Lodge today definitely gave me a moment to stop and reflect.

I started Vortex in a small farm unit back in 2023, and we’ve now just moved into our 4th premises.

I’m really proud of what we’ve built - and I say we because it’s not just me. We’ve got a great team here, good people around us, and some brilliant customers who have supported our growth along the way.

As a small business owner it’s easy to focus on the jobs you didn’t win, the deadlines, the pressure and everything still left to do.

But sometimes it’s important to take a step back and appreciate how far things have come.

The last of five engine-build workstations now installed at GR Engineering.

Designed and manufactured in-house, each workstation includes:

- 8m of usable worktop space
- Integrated cupboards
- Parts-tubs storage
- Folding vice
- Stainless steel toolbox

A great project to take from design right through to fabrication, finishing and installation.

Really pleased with how the full set has turned out.

Want to learn a skilled trade and take pride in what you build? You’ll work alongside our experienced team, learning TIG welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly on everything from motorsport components to aerospace test rigs.

We’re a growing company with a friendly team, a great working environment and plenty of varied projects to get involved in.

Something a little different in the Vortex Fabrications workshop.

We were recently approached by a local company to produce some playground equipment, including several bench and chair bases.

While this isn’t our usual type of work, we were pleased to get involved and put our fabrication skills to use on a different project.

These are now ready to head off to be galvanised, ahead of the next stage.
