📢 The Future of Childs Ercall – Have Your Say

Shropshire Council has launched an 8‑week consultation on the new Local Plan, starting with the Scoping Consultation. This is the first opportunity for residents to influence how development is planned across the county for the next 20 years — including how small rural villages like Childs Ercall are treated.

At this stage the Council is not choosing specific development sites. Instead, it is asking for views on:

The priorities that should shape Shropshire’s future

How development should be distributed across the county

The methodology for assessing potential development sites

What planning policies are needed

How communities should be involved

The draft Community Hierarchy, which will directly affect how villages like ours are classified in planning decisions

🗓️ The consultation runs until 15 July, and it is important that residents take part so that the needs, constraints, and character of Childs Ercall are properly understood.

👉 Full details and the online response form are available here:

There will also be a public drop‑in session where Shropshire Council officers will be available to answer questions:

📍 Market Drayton – Festival Drayton Centre
🗓️ 10 June
⏰ 9.30am – 4pm

Residents are encouraged to attend or submit comments online.

Thank you to everyone who attended our Annual Parish and Community Meetings last night. We heard reports from the Chair of the Parish Council, along with updates from the Church, the Village Club and the Community Association (CECA).

The Parish Council then appointed a Chair and Vice Chair for the coming year and confirmed councillor responsibilities across our various areas of work.

A wide range of topics were discussed, including ongoing planning matters, highway safety, Shropshire Council’s consultation for the new Local Plan, and the continued maintenance of our parish assets and amenity areas.

Our Annual Financial Governance (AGAR) reports will be uploaded to the community website in due course and displayed on the playground noticeboard, together with the minutes of our meetings.

Our next Parish Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 17th June at 7pm in the Jubilee Hall. Please note that there is no meeting in July.

If you would like to raise any matters in the meantime, please contact the Chair or Clerk by email:
[email protected] or [email protected]

Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our Parish Council meeting last night. A wide range of topics were covered, including the proposed 25‑home development on Eaton Road, which would represent a significant change for our village and parish.

The Parish Council resolved to object to the application, consistent with our approach to other speculative developments outside the village boundary.

Please continue to submit your comments via the Shropshire Council planning portal:
