Looks can be deceiving — especially with pallets.

Whether light-coloured wood or naturally darkened over time, the colour of a EUR pallet says nothing about its quality or suitability for use. Wood changes over time – that’s perfectly natural 🌳

That’s exactly why the GS1 quality criteria exist. They provide a common standard instead of labels such as “5-star pallet” or “carrier pallet”.

✅ New, A and B: suitable for modern reusable systems
✅ C: still exchangeable, but no longer suitable for product presentation

Terms such as “C+” don’t create clarity but new interpretations. Especially with PPWR, digitalisation and automation, one thing matters more than ever: clear, consistent standards.
