Do you know how the iconically named Manitou got started? 🚜💡

Back in 1958, in the small French village of Ancenis, Marcel Braud had a stroke of genius. He took a classic farm tractor, inverted its layout, and added a lifting mast along with hydraulic steering - creating the world’s very first all-terrain forklift truck!

When it came time to name his revolutionary creation, Marcel turned to his family for a brainstorming session. They wanted a name that reflected its versatility: a machine that ""handles everything""

They landed on MANITOU - easy to pronounce in virtually any language, setting the stage for the company's massive international expansion.

From a simple idea around the kitchen table in rural France to a global industry leader, those core family values are still at the heart of everything we do today. Decades later, that same spirit of togetherness, trust, and shared vision continues to drive us forward. 🤝❤️
