What a week! Leeds did not disappoint. 🏛️✨

And just like that, it’s a wrap! Three intense, inspiring days of discussions around investment, regeneration, and the future of the UK's built environment.

Here is a quick snapshot of our week:

Day 1: Connection & Momentum 🤝 Our MD, Neil Walker, and our Business Development Coordinator, Collette Woods kickstarted the week at the drinks event hosted by Everlast Group at Katie O’Briens Irish Tavern. Brilliant energy and fantastic new relationships forged right out of the gate.

Day 2: Deep Dives & Innovation 💡 A packed day of meetings and high-value networking. We co-sponsored the wine with Aldrock for the Go Dutch Lunch, which was a massive success! A huge thank you to Claire Bennett for organising such a seamless event, and to everyone who attended—it was a fantastic mix of businesses with perfectly complementary services.

Day 3: Future-Facing Collaboration 🔮 We wrapped up the week focusing on actionable next steps. It's clear that despite macroeconomic headwinds, the industry's appetite for high-impact collaboration is stronger than ever.

We’re delighted to share that Charles Andrews will be working along side Heaton Group by providing Building Services Consultancy for the restoration of Mill 3 at Cotton Works — a landmark project we’re incredibly proud to be part of.

Originally completed in 1900, Mill 3 forms one of the three Grade II listed Western Mills, designed by the renowned Stott & Sons. The building stands as a powerful reminder of Wigan’s industrial heritage, engineering ambition and architectural craftsmanship.

As partners in this next chapter of Cotton Works, our approach aligns with the core vision guiding the wider regeneration:

👉 Preserve historic fabric while integrating modern building services discreetly and sensitively.
👉 Enhance energy performance through low‑carbon, future‑ready systems that respect the constraints of a listed structure.
👉 Improve internal environmental quality — ventilation, lighting and comfort — without compromising character.
👉 Introduce adaptable, resilient services infrastructure that supports flexible mixed‑use occupation.

Once complete, Mill 3 will play a central role in shaping a vibrant, mixed‑use neighbourhood — bringing together workspaces, leisure, hospitality and community life within a setting rooted in history.

We look forward to supporting the delivery of this important project and sharing more updates as work progresses later this year.

Today, we take a moment to celebrate the extraordinary career and dedication of Richard Davies, our esteemed IT & CAD Manager, who has provided us with almost 27 years of exceptional service to Charles Andrews!

Since January 1999, Richard has been the constant force guiding our technology through decades of change. He has seamlessly managed everything from major IT transitions to keeping our sophisticated CAD systems running flawlessly, leaving an indelible mark on how we operate.

We extend our deepest gratitude for his commitment, expertise, and leadership over this incredible span of time.

What an honour! As you probably already know, we recently celebrated the incredible 80th Anniversary of Charles Andrews Limited — eight decades of technical excellence in Building Services Consultancy!

The heart of this enduring legacy lies in the multi-generational leadership that has shaped our firm since our founding by Charles Andrews himself in 1945. To commemorate this milestone, we were thrilled to have the three most recent generations of our directors come together to celebrate this huge achievement that they have all been part of.

A huge thank you to Brian Benson, Tony & Jennifer Cryne, and of course our current Director’s Neil Walker, Vicky Walker & Adam Woods for their commitment to a vision that spans 80 years. Here’s to many more!
