Understanding what the M532 can do is one thing, but what really matters is how those capabilities translate into more efficient manufacturing, less waste and cost reduction for the customers we manufacture components for.

These are pole pieces for magnetrons used in marine radar systems. The geometry isn’t especially complex, but the Swedish steel makes them more challenging to machine, as the bar stock isn’t completely uniform.
This is where two capabilities of the new M532 really come into their own.
Citizen’s LFV (Low Frequency Vibration) technology deliberately breaks the swarf into smaller, more manageable chips, helping prevent long strands of swarf building up around the component and tooling. This makes swarf easier to evacuate and helps maintain a more stable machining process.
Alongside LFV, the M532 can switch between guide bush (GB) and guide-bush-less (GBL) machining. For shorter components like these, GBL can reduce the bar-end remnant length by up to two-thirds, meaning significantly more of each bar is turned into finished components rather than waste.
That makes these pole pieces a good early job for the new M532, giving our team the opportunity to explore its capabilities while getting more from an expensive material like Swedish steel.
