𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘆
Our team successfully pushed in 845 metres of 630mm HDPE pipe using the pipe pusher - a major achievement on this technically demanding HDD project. Over recent months, we have been delivering HDD works in Dounreay for OCU Group’s RJ McLeod business on behalf of SSEN Transmission as part of their Orkney Link Project, navigating challenging and variable ground conditions along the way.

Projects like these are a real testament to the planning, technical knowledge, perseverance, and teamwork required to achieve successful delivery.

A huge credit to the crew onsite for their commitment, precision and determination throughout this phase of the works. Challenging ground conditions don’t make the job easier, but experience and teamwork make the difference.

We’re not finished yet - now preparing for the next phase of the project.

After five months of precise drilling, this week marked a major milestone for McCormack Drilling in the beautiful Islands, Scotland. Ourselves, OCU and RJ McLeod (Contractors) Limited are working in collaboration on this exciting project.

Our team successfully completed a 1,200-metre, 36" HDD outfall — a key project element towards ensuring the island’s power access is future-proofed for generations to come.

On Tuesday, the first 630 HDPE pipe was pushed in by George — OCU’s new pipe pusher. At the heart of the operation stood McCormack’s flagship rig: the powerful American Augers RS1100, delivering yet another major success.

This project is a true display of collaboration, precision, and technical excellence. We’re proud to have delivered it in partnership with our client SSEN Transmission.
