Got the images of the air cooled Yam cases following cleaning. The aluminium had deteriorated a little but all in all quite good results. Now in the workshop being machined for conversion to TZ liquid cooled design. Customer happy. If anyone has any RD250 or RD350, YDS7 or similar cases, please let me know, my pal may want them

New project. I thought it would be informative to see what a typical blasting job entails. This is the before situation, the type of project that I start off with. Two sets of Yamaha crankcases being refurbished. One set has had some moderate cleaning, but the other set is very typical. Just to give an idea of what the work entails if you care about the results. Being a bike fanatic and restorer, I build engines for my bikes. If you look at the images, every blind hole needs to be plugged, to prevent blast media (glass bead is my go-to media) getting lodged in the screw holes. You may not get it all out even when thoroughly washed. You do not want this to happen when you are rebuilding a motor. I use a combination of synthetic tapered plugs or screws with rubber tubes on part of the threads. I will post images of the finished job sometime next week - turd polishing here we come

New project for Race Engine tuner. A regular customer recently brought a batch of cylinder heads in for blasting. Originally, they were in poor state, painted black (Yamaha TZ) and lots of carbon and grime. Once cleaned, the history began to show itself. The vapour blasting revealed signs of previous repairs, detonation / fuelling issues and general wear and tear. Not a major problem as our man machines the original parts to produce replacement combustion chamber profiles and materials to his specification. The most noticeable matter is the damage caused by the use of water in the past compared to the modern coolants containing corrosion inhibitors which prevent damage (chemical erosion)

I completed some work on an Alfa Spider for a very nice guy locally, he is a collector and restorer that kindly sent me this image of the finished engine back in the chassis. I did the cylinder head, inlet manifold, carbs, wheels and many other parts, in the end he also purchased one my benchtop blasting cabinets for doing work on small items in his workshop

Had an old lad get in touch about the carbs on his 1957 Norton Dommy Special. He's had the bike from new so thought it needed some restoration work. He was a bit concerned about shipping the items from Kent to Cheshire but that went fine and now completed, they will be going back this week. The carbs were spotless inside and not too grubby externally, the gaskets and seals were all bone dry but readily available as a set for less than £7.00. I think they turned out very well and our man is happy

Doing a presentation covering Vapour Blasting tomorrow night for Poynton Motorcycle Club and the Vntage Motorcycle Club at the Poynton Workies (working mens club) Park Lane Poynton. Should be a fun night, looking forward to meeting everyone. Starts at 8 ish just a few slides and examples of what I can do and bit of stuff about Classic Racing

Model aircraft engines. New one for me, a mate brought some engine parts for me to blast, he is a mechanic and I assumed they would be car or van parts. It turns out they were from RC aircraft that he builds, nicely engineered I was quite impressed by the detail, a long time since i saw a deflector piston but one of the engines has one. As always they came out very well
