Melling Performance Springs in the USA

Last month Crispian Knight, Sales Director, Melling Performance Springs, travelled to 8 of our largest US customers, flying in and out of the gateway to the USA, Atlanta. Followed by customer visits in Texas, New Hampshire, Michigan, Illinois, New York, Arkansas & Maryland. 12 flights over 2 weeks, 7 hire cars, 1,500 miles driven, 6 buses, 4 taxis, 2 trains, 1 boat and lots of walking. Covid may have changed the World and increased the use of video calls, but nothing beats face to face meetings with our great US customers, said Crispian. It’s looking like a new building will be required in 2026!

We have had a busy 2 days here with Gary & Robert from Spaghetti Weston. A digital media production company, filming our manufacturing processes and conducting interviews with key members of staff for a new corporate video being produced by our parent company, Melling Engine Parts. Both Gary and Rob were impressed by the spring facility the state-of-the-art technology used and the advanced automation that has been designed and developed in-house, in fact they both got a preview of a new special purpose machine being built! The video footage is now being sent to the USA for editing by the Uncharted Film Company. Later this year the new company videos will be on our website and social media platforms for all to see.

In May our Accountant, Donna and her Assistant, Helen together with a team of friends, took part in a gruelling 13 mile trek in the Lake District to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Unfortunately Donna’s husband John suffers with Alzheimer’s. He worked at the company for over ten years until May 2024 when due to his Alzheimer’s he made the decision to take early retirement.

Together they raised an impressive £3301 helped along by a generous donation from the company, together with personal donations from some kind members of staff and some from suppliers.

Five years have passed since Melling acquired the company and we continue to build for the future. MPS have faced many challenges, covid, Brexit, the energy crisis and disruptions to global Logistics. But throughout it all the MPS team have kept focussed on our customers, with unrivalled quality, 100% on time delivery and excellent customer service. From refurbishments to the building to new machines and equipment, the company has so far invested £1.5 Million with more new machines currently on order.

Melling Performance Springs makes the technically challenging parts that other companies cannot make and export to more than 25 countries around the world.

On behalf of the company, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for those efforts over the last 5 years. A big thank you to our customers, our suppliers and all our employees.

Melling Performance Spring were pleased to take delivery of our new Wafios 660+ spring grinding machine this week. The new dual table machine will improve productivity, product quality and consistency and the machine comes with many new features that will benefit the operators and our customers over the long term. MPS have now invested more than £1.5 Million in new machines and equipment since acquiring the company in 2020.

Congratulations to Donna Prestwich who has now given 20 years dedicated service to the company.

Since Donna started working at Melling Performance Springs she has seen seen many changes through the years, it has truly been a rollercoaster of a journey with ups and downs along the way.

She has always been a rock and a key member of the management team, guiding the company through many changes, developments and improvements. Her commitment and enthusiasm have always been an inspiration to her colleagues.

Donna has been instrumental in our continued development and success in her dual roles as Company Accountant and HR Manager.

We all wish to thank Donna for her service and wish her many more successful years with the Company.
