Remounting & Refurbishment: Reducing Risk and Maximising Asset Value

When it comes to updating their fleet many organisations consider purchasing second-hand equipment. However, remounting or refurbishing existing assets often provides a more predictable and cost-effective solution.

One of the key benefits is certainty. By remounting or refurbishing equipment you already own, there are no hidden issues often associated with second-hand purchases. You know the equipment, its service history, and how it performs in your operation.

From a financial perspective, remounting typically costs a small fraction of buying new or replacing equipment outright, while significantly extending operational life. In addition, lead times are considerably shorter than procuring new machinery, helping fleets return vehicles to service sooner.

Axles Reman is a vehicle refurbishment company and, alongside our core refurbishing business, we also provide shot blasting and powder coating services.

All work is carried out at our premises in Lydney, Gloucestershire in our large, purpose-built shot blast shed with crane facilities, allowing us to handle larger and heavier components safely and efficiently.

👋 Meet the Team: Michael Baldwin

For the past eight years, Michael has been an integral part of Axles Reman as our Production Manager. His job is a balance of planning ahead for the factory’s requirements, stepping in to solve challenges when they arise, and applying his skills in auto electrical manufacturing.

Michael says one of the best parts of his role is the simple satisfaction of walking through the factory and seeing everything working just as it should.

A highlight of his career so far has been playing a key role in building our new state-of-the-art shot blast facility. From the many smaller projects within it to the moment it became fully operational, it’s an achievement he’s especially proud of.

Away from work, Michael values spending quality time with his children.

👋 Meet the Team: Dan Jones

Dan is our Workshop Supervisor and has been with Axles Reman for nine years, bringing a total of 17 years of industry experience.

His day-to-day role involves making sure the team has everything they need in the workshop and liaising with the office to keep projects on track. Dan’s favourite part of the job is building road sweepers, a skill he has honed since leaving school at 16.

One of the most interesting projects he has worked on recently was helping to set up our new factory – taking on new challenges and learning along the way.

Outside of work, Dan enjoys gaming and walking his two sausage dogs.

👋 Meet the Team: Zoe Parsons

Zoe has been part of Axles Reman for over six years and is our Office Manager. She looks after customer and supplier accounts, purchasing, HR and financial bookkeeping – making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

She finds real satisfaction in seeing a finished product leave for delivery after all the hard work that goes into it. One of her most memorable projects was supporting the team on a complex rear suction conversion, ensuring they had everything they needed from start to finish.

Outside of work, Zoe enjoys reading and walking her dogs. A little-known fact about her is that she’s also a fully qualified driving instructor.

We’re proud to have Zoe on the team – her dedication and organisation are a big part of what keeps Axles Reman moving forward.
