From isolation strategies to system resilience, every design decision plays a role in long-term safety and performance for PV systems.

Our new guide, developed in collaboration with SELECT, brings together practical insight to support better-informed PV system design.

POWER UP CONFIDENTLY reflects the goal: safer thinking, better design decisions and stronger system understanding across the industry.

We take a look at what businesses and homeowners need to keep an eye out for once they have had the systems installed, this could be birds nesting, vegetation wrapping around component parts, or cracks forming in the panels.

The guide is available now from our downloads section and via SELECT in the Publications section of its website at www.select.org.uk or via our downloads section πŸ‘‰ https://pubhtml5.com/yjfk/ozeg/.

Most PV issues do not appear overnight; they develop over time.

Thermal stress, component ageing and system design choices all play a role in long-term performance and reliability.

Our new guide, created in collaboration with SELECT, focuses on the preventative side of PV system safety, helping identify risks before they escalate into faults.

PREVENT is about designing with lifecycle performance in mind.

For support with system design or questions around any of the products or themes mentioned in the guide, SELECT and our technical team are available to help and advise. Please contact [email protected] or SELECT at [email protected].

What happens to the electrical installation when half the country turns their living room into a stadium?

Major sporting events create more than atmosphere; they create a shift in domestic load patterns and increase reliance on sensitive electronic equipment.

As homes become increasingly connected, surge protection is becoming a standard consideration in good installation practice.

When a PV system is shut down… is it ever truly isolated?

In solar design, protection is not just about installation; it is about what happens during maintenance, faults and emergency situations.

Our new guide, developed in collaboration with SELECT, the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland, explores the key protection principles behind modern PV systems, including isolation, shutdown strategies and safeguarding people and assets.

PROTECT is the first step in building safer system design thinking.

Today, we are really pleased to launch a new practical guide to PV installation, developed in collaboration with SELECT.

The guide follows the Prevent. Protect and Power Up Confidently: themes surrounding PV installation.

SELECT is the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland, dedicated to promoting high standards, competence and best practice across the sector. To find out more about SELECT, please click this link πŸ‘‰ https://select.org.uk/.

Solar PV continues to evolve rapidly, with faster deployment methods becoming more common across residential and commercial installations.

While installation methods are becoming more streamlined, the safety requirements behind PV system design remain just as critical. This guide has been created to support installers, designers, specifiers and home and business owners in understanding the key safety considerations behind modern PV systems.

It also reflects a shared industry focus on moving the conversation beyond a 'fit and forget' approach and towards a more ongoing, lifecycle-based view of PV system safety and performance.

The guide is available now from our downloads section and via SELECT in the Publications section of its website at www.select.org.uk or via our downloads section πŸ‘‰ https://pubhtml5.com/yjfk/ozeg/.

For support with system design or questions around any of the products or themes mentioned in the guide, SELECT and our technical team are available to help and advise. Please contact [email protected] or SELECT at [email protected].

Finally, we would like to say a big thank you to SELECT for their time and efforts put into this guide and for all of the work they are doing to highlight PV fire safety in the sector.

Solar PV is becoming faster to install, access and deploy than ever before.

But reduced installation time does not remove complexity from safety requirements.

As plug-and-play systems and rapid deployment solutions grow in popularity, the conversation around compliance, isolation and system design is becoming increasingly important.

That is why we have developed a new practical guide in collaboration with SELECT, bringing together industry expertise to support installers, designers, specifiers, and home and business owners working with modern PV systems.

SELECT is the trade association for the electrical contracting industry in Scotland, dedicated to promoting high standards, competence and best practice across the sector.

To find out more about SELECT, please click this link πŸ‘‰ https://select.org.uk/.

It reflects a shared focus on strengthening PV safety understanding and supporting a more ongoing, lifecycle-based approach to system safety, moving the conversation beyond a 'fit and forget' mindset.
