The Global Engineering Debate is a new joint initiative from the IET Young Professionals and the IMechE Young Members The motivation and purpose of this initiative is to set up an innovative and interactive event concept, aimed at Young Professionals/Members of both institutions, which can be run as a series in different locations globally, to discuss key themes that are directly relevant to t
he current and future generation of engineering professionals. The proposed theme for the first Global Engineering Debate series that will be run during the 2014-2015 period is:
Energy
It is expected that a different theme will be chosen every year. Running this event as a series in different global
locations will enable active participation of the IET and IMechE memberships in those locations, as well as fuelling a debate on the key themes of both institutions in the respective local contexts. Test events will be held in November 2014 in Reading and Hong Kong, before the launch event in London 2015.
