Some great info from DMM explaining CE marking and where it comes from.

Equipment that is classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in the EU, has to comply to a particular EN (European Norm) standard, as part of a Directive. Compliance with the Directive is shown by a CE marking on the product.

The new RFID tech from DMM Professional, DMM Climbing could make PPE inspection a lot less hassle. We haven't got any details of the cost of this yet, but the ability to record and trace your kit in this way will reduce the time it takes to keep your inspection logs up to date by an enormous margin!

DMM recently demonstrated RFID (radio frequency identification) technology integrated into metal products as small as carabiners, enhancing traceability.
