Some jobs remind us why teamwork matters.

Not the kind of teamwork that looks perfect in photos.

The real kind.

The quick look between engineers when they understand the issue.
The extra pair of hands when something needs adjusting.
The patience to double-check the details before leaving site.
The small conversations that make sure the client feels reassured, not left guessing.

In our work, clients often call us when something has already gone wrong.

A lift has stopped.
A building is disrupted.
People are waiting for answers.

And in those moments, the way a team works together matters.

Because it’s not just about fixing the lift.

It’s about showing up calmly, supporting each other, solving the problem properly, and leaving the client with confidence that things are back under control.

That’s the part we value most at Fly Lifts.

The people behind the work.
The trust between the team.
The care that goes into every job, even when no one is watching.

Proud of our team for always bringing skill, patience, and heart to the work we do across London.

When a lift stops, the first 10 minutes are important.

If you manage a building, make sure to follow these steps until an engineer arrives:

1. Confirm if anyone is trapped

A lift breakdown and a lift entrapment are not the same situation.

If someone is inside, emergency communication and rescue procedures must come first.

2. Stop repeated resets

Do not keep resetting the lift.

Repeated resets can hide the original fault and make diagnosis harder for the engineer.

3. Place clear “Out of Service” signage

If the lift looks available, people will keep trying to use it.

Clear signage prevents confusion, repeated complaints, and unsafe attempts around the doors.

4. Communicate with residents, tenants, or staff

A short update is enough:

“The lift is currently out of service. An engineer has been contacted. We will update you once assessed.”

Silence creates more frustration than a controlled delay.

5. Check who is affected by access loss

This is especially important in:

• Care homes
• Residential blocks with elderly residents
• Hotels
• Medical buildings
• Multi-floor commercial sites

A lift outage can quickly become an accessibility issue.

6. Record what happened

Before the engineer arrives, note:

• Did the lift stop between floors?
• Did the doors fail to open or close?
• Was there noise, vibration, or delay beforehand?
• Which floor was affected?
• What time did it happen?

These details can shorten diagnosis time.

7. Call a qualified lift specialist

A lift fault needs proper isolation, testing, and safe return-to-service checks.

A temporary fix is not the same as a safe resolution.

Save this checklist for the next time a lift fault is reported in your building.

One of our recent clients called Fly Lifts when their passenger lift stopped between floors.

Within the hour, our engineer Moe arrived on-site.

He identified the issue, explained it clearly, and got the lift running again quickly.

This is never a minor inconvenience.

It creates immediate pressure:
• Passenger safety concerns
• Building disruption
• Urgent communication with occupants
• The need for a fast, controlled response

The client later shared:

“Called Fly Lifts after our passenger lift stopped between floors. Moe arrived within the hour, explained the issue clearly and had the lift running again quickly. Very professional service and fair pricing.”

This is the standard we work to:

• Fast attendance
• Clear explanation
• Safe fault diagnosis
• Practical resolution
• Fair and transparent service

Because when a lift fails, clients don’t just need a contractor.

They need someone who takes ownership and solves the problem.

Well done to Moe for representing Fly Lifts with professionalism and care.

An escalator is not “just moving stairs.”

It is one of the most exposed pieces of equipment in a building.

Shoes.
Bags.
Dust.
Coins.
Food wrappers.
Heavy foot traffic.
Children stopping at the comb plate.
People dragging trolleys over the steps.

Every day, small things enter places they should not.

And escalators are not forgiving when debris reaches the wrong area.

A small obstruction can lead to:

• Step misalignment
• Comb plate damage
• Unusual vibration
• Sudden stopping
• Passenger safety risks
• Avoidable emergency callouts

This is why escalator maintenance is not only about the motor or the handrail.

It starts at the points people ignore most:

The landing plates.
The combs.
The step edges.
The areas where everyday debris collects.

In busy London buildings, a clean escalator is not just about appearance.

It is part of safety.

So next time you walk past an escalator, look down.

The first warning signs are often right at your feet.

And if the worst happens, Fly Lifts is ready to respond.

If crisps are your favourite snack…

They definitely aren’t your lift doors’ favourite.

Our team was called out for an urgent visit after a lift got stuck and wouldn’t reach the designated floor.

The culprit?
A simple bag of crisps lodged in the door track.
Small item.
Big disruption.

When debris gets trapped where lift doors need to move freely, it can cause:
• Door obstruction faults
• Repeated opening and closing
• Failed floor arrival
• Lift shutdowns

Lift doors rely on clean, precise movement every single time they operate.

So yes, enjoy your crisps.

Just make sure the empty packet ends up in the bin, not in the lift track.

A small habit can prevent a big inconvenience.

And if the worst happens, our team is ready to respond.

At Flylifts, we provide 24/7 urgent lift repairs, preventive maintenance, and fault diagnostics across London to keep you operational at all times.

Most “random” lift shutdowns start with something smaller than a coin.

Dust, debris, and contamination inside lift door tracks account for a large share of minor lift faults in commercial and residential buildings.

Why?

Because modern lift doors rely on precision movement.

When debris builds up inside the tracks:
• Doors begin closing unevenly
• Sensors misread obstructions
• Rollers experience additional resistance
• Door operators compensate harder to complete cycles

At first, this appears as:
• Slight delays
• Reopening the door
• Intermittent faults

Over time, it becomes:
• Repeated shutdowns
• Increased wear on door components
• Full door failure during peak usage

And here’s the issue many property teams miss:

Door systems operate more than almost any other moving component in the lift.

In high-traffic London buildings, even small contamination buildup significantly accelerates wear.

A simple preventive clean and inspection can often prevent:
• Emergency callouts
• Tenant complaints
• Expensive reactive repairs

The earlier these issues are identified, the lower the operational risk becomes.

Fly Lifts provides preventive lift maintenance, fault diagnostics, and rapid-response repairs across Greater London.

Here’s how to tell if your hydraulic lift may need an oil change.

Check for these signs:

• The lift feels slower than usual
• Jerky or uneven movement during travel
• Increased operating noise from the motor or pump unit
• Delayed leveling at floors
• Oil appears dark, cloudy, or has a burnt smell
• System temperature running noticeably hotter than normal

In many hydraulic lifts, oil condition directly affects:
• Pressure stability
• Ride quality
• Internal component wear
• Overall system lifespan

And unlike visible mechanical faults, oil degradation happens gradually.

Most passengers will notice performance changes long after the system has already been operating under increased strain.

That’s why hydraulic maintenance is not just about topping up oil levels.

It’s about monitoring oil condition before contamination and heat begin affecting the entire system.

A simple oil inspection today can prevent far more expensive hydraulic repairs later.

Most people think lift engineering is about fixing things.

In reality, a large part of the job is understanding why something failed in the first place.

Every worn component tells a story:
• Excess pressure
• Missed adjustments
• Heat buildup
• Long-term strain under load

And if you know what to look for, small details reveal bigger system behavior.

That’s the difference between:
Replacing parts
and
understanding the problem.

Because replacing a component fixes today.

Understanding why it failed prevents tomorrow.

This is the side of lift engineering most people never see:
Patience. Precision. Diagnosis.

We arrive with smiles… and aim to leave with even brighter ones.

Good service starts long before the job is completed.

It starts with the people behind it.

The communication between teams.
The engineers showing up ready to solve problems.
The trust is built through experience, accountability, and consistency.
In this industry, clients rely on more than technical skill.

They rely on people who respond under pressure, work together efficiently, and genuinely care about keeping buildings safe and operational.

That’s what strong service is built on.

At Fly Lifts, we believe the way we show up matters just as much as the work itself.

In busy restaurants, service delays don’t always start in the kitchen.

Sometimes they start between floors.

A slow or unreliable dumbwaiter affects more than food transport:
• Orders back up
• Staff movement increases
• Service timing becomes inconsistent
• Pressure builds during peak hours

And in multi-floor restaurants across London, those few extra minutes add up quickly during lunch and dinner service.

A properly maintained dumbwaiter helps kitchens and front-of-house teams move efficiently, especially during high-volume periods where timing matters.

The issue is that many systems are only addressed once they stop working completely.

Before failure, most dumbwaiters already show signs:
• Slower travel
• Jerky movement
• Delayed door operation
• Unusual noise under load

Small inconsistencies in service equipment often become operational problems later.

Because in hospitality, smooth service depends on more than the people delivering it.

👉 If your restaurant operates across multiple floors, when was your dumbwaiter system last properly checked?

📍Fly Lifts provides dumbwaiter maintenance, repairs, and upgrades across London.
